Montahg
Any of you find part of the problem with sticking with one particular character to be the idea that you want to play one of everything? I want a shaman. I want a ranger. I want every one of the quest classes. I want a paladin, I want a warrior.................I want EVERYTHING. Half the time that I create a new character, the reason is simply because I want to try something that I've never had (at least to a high level). And it doesn't just stop at wanting different races/classes, either. I want different RPs, too. I constantly get ideas in my head about new rps, and I think that it'd be cool to try out and see how things go with it. If only getting to pinn and establishing a nice RP didn't take so many hours -.- I'm at about 75 hours with my current project, and he's only about half trained, and not even close to 50! I'm not the only one?
KRins
Eh...I find myself getting bored with a project, mainly because it is stab first, talk later at 50. Then I wander back to Counter Strike so I can stab, shoot, and nade without having to justify it to anyone (even if it is just myself.) By the time I decide to come back, my project is uncabaled and naked. To be honest I get so flippin' pissed about getting uncabaled within a week or losing my equipment because I don't have 400 hours to play a month and knowing that reequiping to the level I was at (my equipment is always sick nasty until I take my first pdeath and then it is mithril until I get sick of strolling down a faceless, voiceless murderer's row of people I've never interacted with and delete...that or I blow my quest/get in an argument with my clan IMM and get branded with title that makes people just want to kick my skull off my shoulders/don't know the equipment for a certain class). Then I decide to roll something else...rinse repeat ya know? but yeah I do feel you on wanting to play everything/know what is up with all these skills that seem to make me into a cardboard cutout of the mob killing beast that I was/find out where that sick (insert item here) is. L-A
Only when I get to lvl 50. However, this time, no more projects until this one condies or deletes - and deletion doesn't usually happen for me. L-A

Psycho Child
I'm a prime example of altaholicism. I have never con deathed a character, and probably never will. I usually delete after my first pk death, if I even stick with a character long enough to get it to 50.

Ranking and training characters only to be deleted after one death is just silly. I would suggest you consciously change your mindset to the effect of realizing that there is nothing bad about dying, or else set a delpass as soon as you create characters. Ex-D&Der
I would suggest not training, then you can get to 50 faster.

mya
You can do it in two way. Train things in phases: 80% at 30. 90% at 41. 100% at pinacle. Or powerrank to 50 and train in mithrill.
Calron
Its a matter of finding a happy medium. I would suggest you just train defenses/weapons (for melees, key spells too for mages) and then leave the other stuff to go up by itself. If there are a couple other class skills that are extremely integral go ahead and train those as well. In general though, I would just train defenses at 15 at crows, and weapons at 30 in the mino keep, and it won't take more than a few hours of your time. Implementor Anume Posted May 20, 2008 Implementor Report Share Posted May 20, 2008 You can train at least half of the things you really need by using them when ranking. The only thing most people will find necessary for survival to train extra is defenses (and even those will master by themselves incredibly fast with some races). Ex-D&Der
Point is you might try spending less time training.
Anoneemus
Honestly, and this isn't intended to sound like a knock or anything, there are so few players nowadays in lowbie PK/group range that I hardly train at all anymore. I solo rank most characters to 50, mastering the essentials, and then train extra spells in a quiet place when there's nobody around to kill or RP with. Sometimes I stop for defenses and trip/dispel, but, eh. Seems like there's not nearly as much level 30 PK as there used to be, so I don't worry about it. Edit: Oh, the other things I master asap are sneak/hide (quiet/camo) and word of recall. Anything necessary for survival purposes.
Deykari
My problem is/was similar to yours, Montahg. I come up with an idea, I get excited by it, I roll it, I level to 5 and then think “Hey, actually, I have a better idea”. Repeat about 20-30 times until I find something I finally stick with. More often than not, the idea that I stick with is the one that is least defined at creation. I don't think there's a sure-fire fix to the issue, but just to keep plugging away until you find something that you want to stick with. Always remember to keep track of any unused idea though, for later. You could try not being so strict in what you want though at the start, if you do that. Rather than saying, "I want a Drow Ninja who is 234 years old, lives in South New Alaskan Jersey with a stutter and 3 legs, who will later in life contract various STDs through prostitution trying to make money to cover the locker costs of storing her red dragon armour." you could go with "I want a Drow Ninja, who.. erm.. could roughly have done something along the lines of this... and this is his/her rough personality" and then develop it as you progress. Some of my most fleshed out characters have worked like that. *shrug* Just an idea, some folk are different. I haven’t been able to play at all for a while now though anyway, apart from a 30 second log-in at a friend’s house a few days ago and I don’t know when I will next be able to. Quick tip, don’t let your mother ‘try’ and carry your laptop upstairs whilst she has a hot cup of tea in one hand and the laptop in the other, especially when she’s had surgery for a cyst in the hand holding the laptop. I was not impressed to find out my mum had spilt a bit of tea, burned her hand and dropped my laptop down the stairs. Dey
Iusedtobesomebody
As the king of fully mastered 30's, I feel for you. I get to 30 and think "OH! This RP would be fun to play!" Quit, start rolling, back to level 1. Then I have a bunch of 30's lying around.
