Top 5 best *stand-up* comics

There are alot I could mention, but I have narrowed it down to the 5 that have really caused me to bust a gut. I refer to strictly stand-up. There are a few really good comedic actors, but not so great stand-up and same goes the other way around. My top 5 are as follows

"Dangerfield please forgive me"

Number 5 = Sam Kinison

Number 4 = George Carlin

Number 3 = Richard Pryor

Number 2 = Lisa Lampanelli

Number 1 = Dave Chappelle

There are alot of stand-up comics I feel I have left out, but there is little I can do, top 5....those were the terms....as hard as it may be.....

I would have posted links to a few of their performances but, since this is suppose to be PG13 you can look them up yourself on youtube.

I'm not entirely sure Dave Chappelle deserves the top spot. He is barely known for his stand-up compared to his TV show and movie appearances...Richard Pryor for the win...he was the beginning and when he died, stand up lost a true pioneer with a flair and presentation that will never be replaced or duplicated. Richard Pryor = the Alpha and the Omega...yeah I said it, and yeah I'm probably gonna burn in hell for it. Johnny Carson? Does his monologues at the beginning of his shows count as stand-up? If so...I feel like he was incredibly funny for being on nationally syndicated TV with an audience that tended to be white, middle aged, and fairly conservative. Not to mention...he has psychic powers.

Galagher is funny to me...I just want to smash a watermelon with a sledge after I watch one of his shows. Carlin owns pretty hard himself...baseball and football is classic as is the 7 dirty words. If you haven't seen those two bits, I highly suggest you watch them. It is shoot-milk-out-of-your-nose funny.

I'd agree with not putting Dane Cook anywhere near the top five lists. He is one of the most unfunny people I have ever heard. But, as I've been told time and time again... I just don't have good taste. I wear plaid and stripes with Hawaiian shirts. As for me...

Bill Hicks.

George Carlin.

Bill Cosby.

Stephen Wright.

Robin Williams.

Don't get me wrong. Dane rocks, I catch every one of his shows within 2 hours or so of Orlando. But we are talking about the best stand-up comics of all time here. Dane hasn't changed comedy much, nor is he particularly unique in his style. I can think of about 20 comics that are loud and generally over-energized. He is the funniest one I can think of...but he isn't earth-shakingly funny either. Plus that movie Employee of the Month...garbage.

Quigt...ROFL!

You know who deserves some props? Steven Lynch...the man sings and is funny. The man wrote a song about his girlfriend being a nazi...he claims to be Craig Christ...He's got little devil horns, and a little goatee, little devil eyes help a little devil see little cloven hooves make it kinda hard to ski...HE'S SATAN! WOOHOO

Also...RIP Mitch Hedberg.

See, I may agree with you with Mitch Hedberg, but I just haven't seen enough of his stuff to say either way on it. I'd also suggest Brian Regan, but just because he's one of my personal favorites. However, he really hasn't done much of anything awe inspiring, just generally fun.

I'd also like to agree with Eddie Murphy, but the same reason applies. I just haven't seen his stuff.

But this thread will no doubt give me many hours of youtube fun. thanks for all the good names, people!

Oh yeah, stephen lynch is one funny guy. I guess he's like Dane Cook but with a guitar though. I've seen him live once, best show I've ever seen. I haven't laughed that hard since.

This is my favorite Stephen Lynch song...I nearly cry from laughing so hard when I watched this. Beelz --->

Another great one...although it is highly offensive to those who aren't down with nazis...

Don't date a girl who drives a panzer my brethren...

And the capper...possibly the most offensively funny song in history. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nUpj7aUtVBw&feature=related
