Psycho Child
My gf also reccomends Cathloic Charites International, they offer a bunch of stuff I guess (I'm not Cathloic, but you don't have to be to get help) and if they can't help you they should be able to direct you to a nonprofit in the area that can. Just another thing you might try if you want to. I'm setting up my paypal, don't got much but I'll see what I can send. I think you have to have a paypal account setup as well to get the money, which would then go into your checking account. Setting up a paypal account is free and easy. Guest emp_newb
ALL lawyers are required to take on one (1) Pro Bono case a year. Its part of the BARR. So every lawyer has to take at least one free case a year.
Psycho Child
Heres my gf's idea of a short suggestion. 1. Support Kids--This organization specializes only in collecting child support. They are non-profit. A small contingency fee is charged from the support they collect for you but only enough to cover the expense of getting the payment in the first place. There are no upfront fees. It works by taking your case out of state hands, which from what Psycho Child tells me may be the best course in your case. Once they accept your application, which you can fill out online, they issue a change of address on your payments for tracking purposes; to assure payments are properly accredited by the state. This takes as little as a few days but bear in mind that it depends on the cooperativeness of the state you live in. The good news is that the state can't not cooperate with them, they are just sometimes slow about it. They also may require you to confirm your approval of the change of address or sign some kind of release. If you choose to go through this charity, your cooperation is extremely important. Support Kids begins searching for your ex as soon as they accept your application so the more information you can provide the better at the beginning. They will keep looking even as they set up the change of address. Once your ex is located then they send enforcement agents to collect payment either through negotiated repayment plans, income withholding or liens. I think this service would be particularly good for you in the long run because once payment arrangements are established your incoming child support payments are continually monitored and the organization will continue to take immediate legal action against your ex if he tries to stop paying again. Once his back child support is paid, Support Kids will continue to monitor his payments and additional contingency fees will only be charged if new enforcement action has to be taken. This is a lot cheaper and a lot more efficient than going through the legal system for a lot of women. And again, they will be on his case forever more unless you specifically tell Support Kids to discontinue their services. You can contact support kids at https://www.supportkids.com/ or by calling 1-800-691-KIDS. This would be my personal pick of available agencies. 2. Psycho Child also tells me that you may be soon without a place to stay. My first recommendation is to check out Oregon state eviction laws. In general, to be evicted you must be served with notice, followed by a negotiation of restitution, if you continue to violate your lease then you can be served with notice again and finally must be brought to court over the matter. The specific rules vary state by state however. Try www.findlaw.com and search your state. Beyond that I have the names of a few women & children's shelters within your state. These shelters do not list anything regarding specifics such as "victims of abuse" or homeless so they should be able to accept you if the worst comes to worst. I would recommend staying with your children at all costs because not doing so, even sending them to live with your parents, could potentially jeopardize your ability to collect back child support and may jeopardize your custody rights. I don't know your ex but it isn't unheard of for men to refuse to pay child support and then when the mother is forced to give them over temporarily, he takes custody. I don't think you want to take that risk. --West Women's & Children's Shelter (run by Salvation Army) 503-239-1254, Director Pat Mohr, located in Portland --Friendship Unlimited 503-239-0983, located in Portland --Raphael House 503-22-6507, located in Portland --Outside-In Streetlight Shelter 530-223-4121, located in Portland --Astoria Rescue Mission 503-325-6243, located in Astoria --Bay Area Rescue Mission 503-888-8808, located in North Bend --Community Outreach 541-758-3000, located in Corvallis --Eugene Mission 541-344-3251, located in Eugene --Family Shelter House 503-689-7156, located in Eugene --Gospel Rescue Mission 547-476-0082, located in Grants Pass --Klamath Falls Gospel Mission 541-822-4895, located in Klamath Falls --Medford Men's Gospel Mission 541-779-1597, located in Medford --Salvation Army Shelter 541-773-7005, located in Medford --Women's and Children's Gospel Mission Shelter 541-772-2931, located in Medford --Stonehaven Women's Shelter Ministry (this one requests that you must call first 503-390-0809, located in Keizer I'm hoping this information will help you get started towards getting back on your feet. Nympha
Scrounged up the money to get my car back. Thank you all for your donations. So get my car back, take it to the mechanic cause somethin is a little screwy with my car and mechanic tells me the engine is blown. Head gasket or something like that is cracked. They want 3600.00 to fix it. Damn lexus's are expensive! I only paid 3000.00 for the car and basically said no way in hell. He put some sealant in the car and said...drive it till it dies then sell it to scrap yard for 100.00. Ouch...so now, I get to TRY and save up for a new car. Ewww...Just Ewww! Psycho Child
You can replace the head gasket by yourself, or find somone who knows cars to do it. About 2-6 hours work depending on the engine, the tools you have, and how much you know how to do.
Chayesh
Head gaskets are murder. Hopefully, the head didn't warp. Has your car overheated from it? Hope not. You can tell when you've got a blown head gasket when your oil turns to "milkshake" and you're overheating without a water leak.
Nympha
I know zip zero about cars. The mechanic wont replace the head gasket for liability reasons when my car has over 170k miles on it. I could talk to my kids godparents, they are mechanics but basically, its an old car with serious mileage on it and its bout time for it to go. It has never overheated before. So might be good for another couple of months. We'll see. I'll let my kids godparents look at it and see what they can do.
delfytheelfy
Yeah, its not blown if its just the headgasket, he prolly just wants that extra money. Your looking @ 500-1000 price for that kinda work. not 3.5k lol. Its about what $200 for the parts, rest is labor. I will admit though, its a sucky job.
