Well, I pimped out FL on the Ubuntu Forums. Maybe we'll get some players to come this way. Either way, I'm doing my part.

But, when you try to bring new players to FL, what do you tell them to do for "beginner advice"? I usually tell them to register with the forums and then read the essay's section.

I tell them to jump to rank 10 so I can pk them.......

Then I find myself fleeing cause they kill me over and over.

Maybe give them a link to Calron's FL wiki. I find some of the info in the essay forums to be somewhat out-dated/completely wrong.

On a side note, I think it's great we're targetting Linux users...anyone that can put up with running linux can definately put up with playing a text based game. That definately made me crack up when I saw you say you posted on Ubuntu forums

I would tell them to read the stickies in the Newbie section and any threads of interest. If they have any questions, check there to see if they've been answered. It's like a FAQ.

Is the Academy still going? If so they should sign up for that as well.

Yup the Academy is still going. I just tell them to look at the help files and ask questions on the Newbie chat. I should start telling them to register with the forums to get more info.
