mya
Why did both of you close guard like in triangle with foot under knee ? First time i saw that. Pitty it was no Gi, i find Gi JJ more interesting.
HBwillie
Mine was a sloppy body triangle. I had planned to use the maneuver to keep him at bay until I could secure an arm and try to post for a sweep. He was more technically sound and knew how to keep me from scoring points. He was also a lot more fresh.
KRins
Gas tank issues will definately get you especially on a multi-match day. I remember wrestling in high school and having 6 matches on a Saturday or 10 between Friday night and Saturday. By the time quarterfinals rolled around (about 4PM) I would be sleeping every second until about 10 minutes before my match...it was awful. I couldn't stay awake if I wanted to. My only issue with body triangles (other than the back mount...half the time I neglect hooks and go for a body triangle.) is that they will almost never (like 99% of the time in my mind) end a fight. It is solid for establishing posture control, but I find I prefer a standard closed guard. Its easier for me to pivot and look for more high percentage finishes. I just had my first gi BJJ class the other day and I find it drastically harder on the mental side. Not only can I not punch someone, but I have to worry about my collar (cross collar chokes suck) and sleeves. Give me no-gi anyday...actually give me a straight boxing match, but if we have to do straight BJJ no-gi FTW
