Pieman
Master your weapons, as a ninja you know staff and he was pugiling a staff, with your AWESOME feral defenses if you have everything mastered you won't be hit as much as well.

archgold
And just in case you don't know what forms sanctuary comes in. The most common and easy to get kind is the vial of sparkling liquid, found in many places. There are also drugs that grant sanctuary such as the bowl of herbs and dark black leaves. And after you rank up to pinn, there's always the glimmering staff. You should ask around IG where you can find these items.
archgold
How do I use a staff as a weapon? Calron
How do I use a staff as a weapon? I tried wielding a staff and attacking with it' date=' but I kept punching people.[/quote'] I think you might be mixing up staffs with staves. Unfortunately, some staves have "staff" in the name, which is understandably misleading. A staff is a weapon you fight with, whereas a stave is a magical item you can brandish to produce its effect (if you have the staves skill). So I need to BRANDISH a stave to use the spells, thanks a lot!
mya
As a ninja you should be hidden most of the time to avoid attacks. Invisibility also helps you. As many classes, a ninja cannot be prepared all the time, so when you get surprised it will hurt quite a bit. Preparation, means having: - protection versus the Aligment that attacks you (Good or evil) - Santuary (vials, herbs) - Flight (scrolls/potions) if they can make you fly - A mount with long duration to run away. - Recall potion - Pill of Teleport if you are Rank 50. In this case, you did not got a single command throw during combat, meaning you where laged or slow to notice. Most ninjas i fought did not flee, they would normaly Vanish. You should also seek the following equipment. - Titanium bracers - Teeth Necklace - Blood candle - Opal rings
Shinth
I was hunting the follower on that mountain, saw him on where but I thought I could kill the follower before he would notice me. I couldn't hide there, I tried it. And I was totally surprised by the attack, barely had the time to type flee. As for vanish, people tell me it has less chances for success if you try to use it while fighting, plus it's only at 76 right now. Thanks for the advice on the gear, I'm having the hardest time finding good gear, or even discerning what's good for me or not.
mya
Next character you make, make sure it can cast Identify, so that you can start your Notepad List. I advise a Cleric. Dwarf mystic cleric, or Drow/human cycle cleric... Or a Invocker... If at 76%, definitively flee. By the way, this is what appears from an Identify: Object 'breast plate gilded gold' is type armor, material gold. Extra flags: glow magic antievil antineutral. Weight is 18, value is 30, level is 32. Armor class is 9 pierce, 9 bash, 9 slash, and 3 vs. magic. Affects savingmaled by -1. Affects hp by 25. Affects hitroll by 1. Affects damroll by 1. Rare item. Imoutgoodbye
Be very, very, very careful about which information you take from your crazy Aunt Mya, Shinth. VERY careful. But seriously, thanks for being such a big help, Mya. Also, you may have noticed that bow shot is unblockable. It'll either hit or miss. As for equipment, I'll say this much. You'll need a couple of backpacks for two to three different sets. Each set will have it's own purpose.
KRins
Valek...first time I ever get to call you on something...but you're wrong. Bow shots can technically be blocked, by 1 class...with 1 specialization. You know me...anything to be an asshat. Shinth: Mya is right in that you should pick something that can identify. I only recently decided to give in and roll a non-BLM, and identify + locate object is the shizznit (yeah I said it, wanna fight about it?). Plus all those spells we talked about being useful to reduce the damage you take are suddenly at your beckon call instead of having to seek out consumables. Not to mention a bunch of other useful spells that will make life tough on someone without any real effort other than c '. You could try the irritating method I developed of stripping down and then putting on the item you want to know about, and check the difference it makes as compared to your naked stats...sometimes you get jumped when you're in your skivvies though. Twinblades713
Shinth, as a ninja, you're not nearly going to be as melee strong as a ranger, so that's where I think getting a square battle will entail you to strangle the mofo, then his pets, then blindness dust. A blind ranger with no pets would be a bit easier battle for ya. Remember, when pking, you're not thinking about the other guy's needs. Think about what you need to do to win. If he got the jump on you, refer to L-A's Survival Essay: GTFO of there. And yes, find all those nifty sanctuary vials, armor pills, and whatnot. Everything helps. Anoneemus
Why can't you just remove whatever's in the same eq slot, type sc, wear the item you want to know about, type sc again, and compare the difference? No need to get fully naked.

corpsestomp
As a ninja you can get a whole lot of protections. Sanctuary: You can find five vials near towns. Protection: You can find a scroll and a potion near towns. Armor: A scroll, a pill, and a potion, only the pill is far away. Shield: A scroll pretty near a town. Flesh Armor: Not until 40sh, but an eatable near a town. Fly: Potions and scrolls can be found in the three major and lots of the smaller towns. Try asking around IG, people may be willing to help you. Barring that, rolling a class with identify(you can use "browse item" to identify stuff sold in shops) and locate object would be great, though I would not suggest cleric. Reason for that is the relative difficulty of solo ranking, and difficulty of killing mobs solo. Battlemage or invoker would be a better choice, in my mind. Being good wouldn't hurt either, since other goods might help you.
Imoutgoodbye
Cleric is an AWESOME choice in my mind. Simply for the reason you can heal yourself immensely, you get sanctuary to cast, and you can hit like a warrior! Trust me, my human cleric could hit pretty hard through sanctuary. Pretty neat to see a MASSACRE when I dispelled someone. Just not enough mana on a human.....*mutter* Plus more defenses than an invoker and I believe a battlemage has to find their own source of sanctuary. Healer is also another viable option, but you'd rely on more people to help you out or loan you their equipment to identify. I also took down the armored statue by myself at 30 if anyone wants to say clerics can't solo mobs.

Glad you are learning the quests and what not Shinth. Some are a lot more useful than just some exp and gold. I remember when I first started here, I was like "What!?! I can be a ninja. Yep, sign me up." I had no idea how much thinking and advanced tactics are envolved with them. Kudos for sticking with it...I think I made like level 8 or so before I realized I need a giant warrior. Re Valek: Yeah bmgs need to find their own sanc, but wands/scrolls/staves makes the spells you can't cast on your own pretty easy to get at and even at decently high levels and you don't even have to waste a rare spot. mya
KYOUSANKEN Syntax: cast 'kyousanken' A ritualistic stance meant to be used with two weapons. While under its effects the blademaster moves more slowly analyzing his opponent's actions. When an attack is made, the blademaster uses his weapons to redirect the force of the blow lessening the damage, or incase of ranged weapons completely deflecting it. See also: BLADELORE So that is blademasters. And Warriors with Shield Expertise. Clerics rank very well, especially good ones. Dwarves, have 21 STR beating Humans, and With Ray blind, Steel Wall and Holy hands, can output decent damage for a long time on big mobs. Also Magic resistence and 25 CON means a lot of error margin. Also they are one of the less dependent Clerics races.
