Short and Furious
this is not meant in any way shape or form to be flamebait. now that that's out of the way, i'm unsure if its a bug, legit (in which case I will be rolling a new character ASAP) or whatnot. level 17ish mage, ex adventurer. has a level 25 stone golem pet, level 30 ghazaniorin (<-- ya its not spelled correctly). the items... well whatever... i've gotten extremely lucky in pits or hell, just wandering around... so thats really not what this is about. mage was using his pets to rank/pk with, and he is DEFINATELY not the first I have seen. IMO when an adventurer chooses his guild and reverts back to level 1, pets should take a hike. skills should obviously stay cranked up to the previous level if the character is capable of using them, items and gear aren't really a huge deal as rares are unobtainable unless its some level 15 fire giant decked in tainted dual wielding fiery weapons bashlocking people for giggles. guess what im getting at is it all right to be using pets that are overpowered for said level to gain xp and/or PK with? thanks in advance-
-Totenkopf-
Noticed the same, but the person appeared quite decent and wasn't your typical lets flog low level mages type person. As such I wasn't concerned. However, if this is abused and lvl 15 zerkers stat walking around killing everyone they see, im going to see issues. As such, although I haven't seen it abused yet, it does have the potential to be abused.
Short and Furious
i've seen it on at LEAST 3 toons... one was trashy... my point is why shouldn't I at level 17 or so be able to get a level 30 and 25 pet, or better yet use level 30 skills because i've put in 8234 hours worth of training? yes, it has incredible potential for abuse, maybe I should have posted in the prayer forum but like ive said, ive only been back for under a week... and its 6 AM. g'nighty! Iyorvin
I didn't really see a big problem myself when I saw it. In fact I never even though to of reporting it. I mean they guy did go to 30 to get that pet. He was using it for ranking and by no means pk. And the pets are not THAT scary they are gonna make a pk threat. But I just didnt' think of it at all like a bug, then again, I've never made an adven.
Tantangel
It is actually that scary for those low of ranks. Often times those pets are doing more damage than the owner of them. I saw a Human DK that was an Advent at one time come in with two pets and one rounded my group mate at lvl 17 (my group mate was lvl 14 at the time) and he walked off like nothing really mattered. His pets were doing 3 times the amount of attacks as he was and was hitting for MUTILATES/decimates (and below lvl 20 any race aside from Ogre isn't really gonna last more than a round or two with unmastered defenses and being hit with that kind of damage upwards of 6 or so times a round). I don't overly think people using it to take advantage of ranking is bad, but people who use it to take advantage in PK like that on the otherhand IS bad. Then again I suppose it's an abuse of a bug that Advents have when they convert and either it should be changed to not be allowed to convert pets back when you choose a guild, or make it to where pets taken up as an Advent wont ever help you in PK but only in ranking. Psycho Child
I'd say if it was used in pk then report it. If just used for ranking I wouldn't care. Specialy as hard as it is to find a group somedays. And even if this mage has these great pets, come in with a ogre zerk and body slam them. An unsanced mage aginst an ogre zerk at that rank isn't going to last long enough for the pets to matter.
Grosek_
BTW, unless theres something I don't know, that golem is level 15 and possible for anyone that can use scrolls to get at level 15 or maybe its 10. Gharnizon really does crap for damage compared to the golem. Theres actually a pet I like more that can kick dirt.
Psycho Child
Well yeah but getting the scroll can't be done at lvl 10. Even if you can use it.
WarriorCleric
There is more than one way to skin a cat, there is more than one way to get a golem. WC
Psycho Child
Not all of which are legal. But if he got it while he was an adventurer than that is fine, I'd call it proper preperation for the future. Getting a group as a low level bmg/nec/(future)sham is rough. Chayesh
We've had these reported to us and we always keep an eye on them the same as we do lowbies decked out in uber gear.
Mister E
I always thought the Golem was rank 10, unless he got it from somewhere I dont know about. As for having rares at 17 all I will say is there is a little loophole and adventurer can use to "bring over" rares from his convert. I did it when I made my slith warrior and with my 2 pets I got to 15 in about 10 minutes and then once I could wear the rares I got to 30 in another 30-45 minutes. I think it should be fair for an adventurer to get little incentives, but so so they can be a pk menace <30. Oh, if the imms are curious about my "loophole", ask me to prayer post. It seems more smart than a bug, but I dunno.
krounoi
Please prayer post it, as it seems like a bug. Or at the least, abuse. Lile Chayesh said, we try to watch these post-adventurer pets like Uber gear, but we can't be everywhere. If you see someone using a level 30 pet to PK with pre-30, then please let us know via prayer post. With as much detail as possible. Thanks. Mister E
Ok posted. I dont think its a bug, I just think it would take a real jerk to go mass pking under lvl 20 with two pets and a set of shinies. Once you hit 30 you start looking like anyone else. Raargant
This has been posted before on the prayers forum. Let me give you, in big red letters, Behren's response. If he PKs with those pets, or even uses them to defend against a PK, I will personally shred his p-file up one side and down another. Using it to speed the first 10 or so levels I don't mind, as those can be annoyingly slow, but if he abuses it to PK better, he's abusing a bug. sixfeetunder
I understand the reasoning behind not PKing with the lvl 30 pets, but in the case of defending...do you mean defending followed by killing your opponent? or just defending enough to drive someone smart away? on several characters I've had people kill themselves against me without me having to chase, if I were to go adventurer and get a golem+lvl 30 pet and someone killed themselves against me I would still get in trouble? it seems a little odd that someone with the balls/lack of sense to attack someone with two high rank/damage pets and not flee when they lose 50%+ of their health in a round or two should cause the one being attacked to be penalized. in such a situation i would flee and hope they don't die to my pets, but i've been attacked by people who were obviously new and trying out the PK system only to have them die without me doing anything. Raargant
If someone attacks you, flee immediately, or order your pets to sleep. If you don't manage to in time, immediately hit nofollow. It's your pets that you are using at a low level; the onus is on you to make sure you don't abuse the bug by PK'ing with it. Chayesh
Very similar to the rules regarding equipment...think of pets higher than your level (translation: you can't buy/obtain them) as equipment you shouldn't really have.
Fiere
I think this happened to me against a cleric, but I'm not sure. Didn't kill me, but it was crazy annoying, as the guy really knew how to use his pets.
sixfeetunder
ah...got it. that makes more sense to me. though i think the nofollow is a better option, i've had problems with my pets waking up after i'd put them to sleep.

Meh, I see your main point and am with you, but how would they NOT defend with in a PK? I mean he has it, don't attack him. He can't release it without losing it. I think if your dumb enough to atatck him, buh bye.

Raargant
That's your problem to deal with. You shouldn't have the pets in the first place, heh. If you do, so long as they don't kill anyone, fine. If they do... If he PKs with those pets, or even uses them to defend against a PK, I will personally shred his p-file up one side and down another.
