myrek
Dear Myrek, Why do you get all crazy when people say full looting is wrong? -Tired of getting gear- Well, Tired of getting gear, it's simple. That is too broad a statement. Full looting is not wrong. Full looting is not always right. Fool looting is highly suggested.
myrek
Dear Myrek, What's the deal with corpse looting? -Tired of mommy and daddy fighting- Well, Tired of mommy and daddy fighting, it's simple. Back in "the day", there were no limitations on looting. A level 50 character would die and get looted by a level 20 or whoever. Now corpses are temporarily protected from everyone except group members, those in PK range, and thieves. That I can live with, I guess. But there are two other things that annoy the hell out of me. I don't like the fact that items' stats are negatively affected by your rank. When I checked out FL originally, it met several conditions. One of those conditions was that it did not have level based equipment. Now it does. Retarded. And, unless I'm wrong, this affects thieves, too, and they're allowed to have those items. Retarded. The other thing is the attitude that is related to the "protect my corpse" mentality. How about you protect your own corpse? How about you don't die? Instead of figuring a way to take care of it in game by themselves, they cried to the staff. TAKE CARE OF IN GAME ISSUES IN GAME.
myrek
Dear Myrek, Multi-killing: what's the story? -Dead again and again and again- Well, Dead again and again and again, it's simple. Multi-killing is killing the same character over and over. Here's what the HELP file says: MULTIKILLING Use your best judgment, sometimes enough is enough, there is no need to kill someone over and over again. While multikilling (multiple killings of the same player by same attacker) are allowed at high ranks (above 40) they are discouraged and punished at low ranks. Dear Myrek, Have you ever multikilled? -Wondering Wanderer- Well, Wondering Wanderer, it's simple. Yes. Dear Myrek, Why did you multikill? -Wandering Wonderer- Well, Wondering Wanderer, it's simple. If, at and around the pinnacle, I kill you, I want you to be dead... or I want you gone... or I want you neutralized. If I beat you, give me the damn courtesy of going away. Log off. Adios. If you stay, I have to consider the possibility that you want another shot at the title. AND you have to realize that I killed you for a reason. Did your death make that reason go away? Probably not. If you are in the "enemy" category and I kill you, you're still an enemy! You won't be my first target but you're still a target!
myrek
Dear Myrek, What do you think about "player manners"? -Miss Manners- Well, Miss Manners, it's simple. Myrek is a character. Myrek has never met a player but Myrek is sure that most players are pretentious and full of crap. Myrek is also willing to bet that most of them will vote for anything that will make their domination of the game more likely... even if they voted against it yesterday. myrek
Dear Myrek, Why do you keep whining about the old cabals? The new ones are great! -New and unproved- Well, New and unproved, it's simple. In the proverbial "good ol' days", you joined a cabal as soon as you could, or you tried. Let's take Abiliband the Ranger Retard for example. He didn't know he head from a hole in the ground. He knew the theory of training but not the tricks. He applied to Warmaster, got interviewed and laughed at. And it was deserved. After the mighty Warmaster got tired of laughing, he spoke to Abiliband the Ranger Retard and gave him advice. Abiliband the Ranger Retard stayed at level 30 and trained. He was then able to get into his first cabal. Yay! Let the asskickery begin! Fear Abiliband the Ranger Retard! Nope. Abiliband sucked. But the other Warmasters helped with information and as groupmates. They taught the idiots like Abilibad where to find gear, where to rank and more. We were continually fighting members of enemy cabals. And worst of all, we had hordes of sworm enemies to battle when we got near our pinnacles. But did we make it to our pinnacle? Hell **** no! Abiliband the Ranger Retard deleted. But the deletion was after Abiliband's player learned tons and tons of information that useful to every character that he played. I don't dislike the new cabals. I dislike the fact that they shut out everyone except level 50 characters. I don't dislike the new cabals. I dislike what has happened to clans. They used to be RP devices that crossed cabals. While this new system needs the clans as they are, there needs to be something to replace to old clan system.
myrek
Dear Myrek, I'm new. Should I join the Academy? -Lost in the sauce- Well, Lost in the sauce, it's simple. I have no idea. The theory is that your instructors will teach you useful information. But I have no idea if they do. All your instructors are Heralds for Pete's sake. I wouldn't count on them to tell me how to fight. Maybe if we come up with a cross-cabal replacement for the old clan system, we can make the Academy like the old one. Then the IMMs can fill it with characters you respect or fear who are cntrolled by players the IMMs know are solid. Myrek was evil as they come. His hobby was summoning as many good mobs into town and trying to start the biggest plague epidemic ever! But in his spare time, he liked long walks through the cemetary and being the 1st or 2nd leader of the Academy. If we go cross-clan, we can have really cool classes and you'll get students who want to learn but also want to chase their dream of being a Knight or whatever. I have no idea why you would want to be a Knight.
myrek
Dear Myrek, I'm newer than new. Got any advice for me? -Loster in the saucer- Well, Loster in the saucer, it's simple. Here's your short answer: Learn the land. The most important skill you can develop is the ability to identify where you are while blind. Second, learn where the areas are broken up. Here's where you start to see some pay off. Mixing skills one and two, develop the ability to run from one end of the map to the other, blind. myrek
Dear Myrek, Why are people so concerned with eq? -Mithril Monster- Well, Mithril Monster, it's simple. It isn't that different from a middle aged man buying a Corvette. They are compensating. Some are play so honorable that gear is what wins their battles. Some are inexperienced and need that kind of mechanical help. And a few are simply rangers. There's no help for them. (Kidding, kidding. Rangers are okay. My hatred of them is a running joke... or is it?)

Montahg
I thought it was highly entertaining and very educational! Twinblades713
Immortals can make poor decisions that some people might deem "retarded". I personally think the immortals do a great job, but it takes someone with real character to be able to accept someone's less than favorable opinion of you, without deleting it or editing it. As long as it doesn't getting into straight insults I think allowing this expression is a good show of leadership, being able to roll with the punches. I think of FL as a right, not a privilege. If you don't like how the immortals run it, either stop playing, or post a message in the prayer forums. No reason to imply the immortals are retarded. Meh, a simple matter of respect for the immortals.
WagesofSin
Ya Krins is right, this is just silly and just completely ignores the problem. Well, now...in all fairness that's definately an alright attitude for the person behind the computer, and I'm sure it's fine as well from an RP standpoint. The only problem I have with it, is I imagine he makes all, or the vast majority, of his characters this way. We all want new players here. The mud would eventually die if we never got new players. We want to help you. But we also want you to experience the 'tough times'. Some of us, apparently, just seem to want to beat you into submission so badly that you end up leaving. Iusedtobesomebody
People who aren't familiar with muds where PK is such a big part of the game might. This is going to sound harsh, and by now you must know that I am all for newer players and all. BUT these people will leave anyways, whether at 30 when they meet their first qrace applicant or at 50 when that bored caballed person comes trolling. It happens. Muds with PK are not for everyone.(for those RPonly types) Muds with enforced RP are not for everyone. (for those 7 billion OOC channel hack n' slashers) Myrek is simply expressing his views, much like everyone else here does. Whether or not he is an insufferable assclown is not up for debate. Take a minute to re-read each post, and see what point he is trying to make. And you know what, you don't have to agree with him. That's fine, but calling people "obnoxious, asinine, and generally useless" is not. Finally Myrek is trying to show here, with humor and sarcasm, that nothing worth something is easy. It takes work. Nothing free. No silver spoons. You want to not be multi-killed? Get better at running for starters.
