tried to tell you slags...

5-28-2008:

it's here, it's now. you guys i really implore you to spend wisely. don't worry about what your peers or parents are talking about, most of them (no offense) know little to nothing about actual financial news, but banks are indeed about to fail, and oil is looking to drive this economy off a cliff.

the first major downfall is happening this Summer.

i want you guys to still be solvent so that you can continue to play our game :) :) . some of you guys will be directly hit by this though, unfortunately.

stay out of debt. for god's sake dont get into new debt. please dont fall into the outdated trap of spending money for your wife or girlfriend. it's a total mindtrap and good wives and gf's now understand the true nature of things are about survival and thriving through intelligence and not needless vacation or diamond rings and such.

dont even bother talking about Democrats or Republicans or even the War or anything else regarding politics. no matter what started this, it's happening, now. and it's going to go full blast, so I suggest you stack serious cash and literally, depending on your personal finances, buy pasta and cheap food like that. save money even for future power bills.

you can read what i'm telling you as some sort of trifle alarmist blather, but just catch up on your financial news and you will see what i'm saying right now is very true, and the Summer is going to be the first shock in a series of shocks. and i'm talking about "Starbucks' type" jobs being lost, not just factory/auto/financial jobs - any job. i'm talking about any job. please try to prepare now.

so how's Starbucks doing, oh yeah, they're closing 600 US stores worth 12,000 jobs:

http://www.usatoday.com/money/industries/food/2008-07-01-starbucks-closing-stores_N.htm

so how's auto companies doing, oh yeah, GM and Ford is on the verge of bankruptcy and cutting 1000s of jobs and closing both entire plants and ending SUV model lines:

http://lfpress.ca/newsstand/Business/2008/07/11/6126896-sun.html

airlines? bibi. you a pilot, aircraft mech? seeya:

http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bal-bz.airlines14jun14,0,39184.story

Oh banks? let's see, one of the largest bank failures EVER since the Great Depression was announced a few hours ago:

http://www.marketwatch.com/news/story/federal-regulators-take-control-indymac/story.aspx?guid=%7BE83FB78F%2D2D0B%2D4FD0%2D8A59%2D70F7C6524B3F%7D

europe, you're next. watch your banks.

and i'll say it again, you better get your ducks in a row now. summer's not even over yet and cash will be King by the fall. stay liquid. tried to warn you in January and no one gave a damn.

I wonder how many of those closing Starbucks and GMs and their jobs will be replaced by McDonalds and Toyotas and their jobs... since, according to those two articles, it is mostly that their product is no longer meeting the demands of the market and others are doing better than them because of it.

Beer is technically the only recession proof item. I hung out with my friends who still go to UCF and they budgeted for rent' date=' gas, beer, food...in that order. Buy a brewery.[/quote']

All drugs are recession proof, legal or illegal. ;)

its always fun to pick and choose information if it lets you spout dramatic, doomsday nonsense. a slow economy does not equal an economic recession. this is not an an economic recession. but hey, lets ignore facts. lets ignore the fact that the u.s. gdp grew by about 2% during the first quarter of 2008. lets ignore the fact that overall unemployment rate is down to 4.9% (from 5.1% late last year). lets ignore the fact that our civilian labor force just hit 154 million, an all time high.

is our economy doing great? no. but i'd take the time to actually learn all the facts before spouting chicken little, the-world-is-ending crap just for drama's sake.

Normall, I wouldn't say this, but, BULL****!

GM is not going bankrupt. Just because some idiots like Lynch (I didn't read the articles, but I'm sure I know which one you're referring to, from the USA Today or some other AP Wire) say they're "raising" the spectre of bankruptcy and it's a possibility, does not make it so.

The stock went down. Big deal. That's all "speculation" BS. They're going to think about selling the Hummer brand. I'd shed that b*tch, too. GM also has enough current funds to play with along with equitable credit they haven't even tapped. And GM has no plans to cut their cross-overs or other SUV's.

And...and....

*breathes in, breathes out*

emote starts singing "I will survive" as he walks away from the thread.

It'll all get worse before it gets better. But how do you know this isn't it all getting worse? Atleast we don't have universal health care. I don't care how many people disagree with me, but that would suck.

Milk, gas, meat, etc. all cost DOUBLE what they were 8 years ago. Heck, where I am, gas was a $1/gallon 10 years ago. Jobs are paying less, with less hours, with less jobs available. This is all for the low mid/lower class. This is particularly acute in California, but we even feel it here in AZ. The upper class is still going strong and the high prices are simply an annoyance.

only capitalize words that feel are important... corpsestomp.

Actually, the grammar rules for the English language specifically state that you are to capitalize all proper nouns and the first word of every sentence. Reality (which grammar rules are a part of) does not change based on how you feel, Goldbond.

Did you seriously just use not just one, but MULTIPLE airlines to emphasize your point?

Even if you were totally correct otherwise (which you're not, you're merely a doomsday propagandist at this point), this totally invalidates any credibility you might have had (which is nonexistent, so it's irrelevant).

http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20080713/ap_on_el_pr/obama_interview_12

Im not an economist... and i know very little about that stuff... but i know what i have seen... and round these parts life is tough. Whatever the cause is... life before circa 1998 seemed a lot easier than life circa 2008...

the fact that obama called this a recession proves what an economic dumbass he is (not that mccain is any smarter on the issue). by definition, an economic recession is when the economy experiences negative growth in its gdp for at least two quarters. we haven't even seen negative growth for a single quarter. we've seen a slow down this previous quarter (down to +2% from +4% the previous two quarters), but it was still positive growth. seriously, neither obama or mccain know jack **** about economics, and you really shouldn't give serious thought to what either one of them says.
