Imoutgoodbye
Well, at least once every two weeks, I'm going to try to feature a music video from some of my favorite metal bands and provide a little history. So, welcome to Reverend Valek's Heavy Metal School of FL. This time around I'm featuring Warrant. Now, some of you might think, here we go, Cherry Pie time. No. Jani Lane, lead singer of Warrant, hated that song. It wasn't even originally on that album. The album was done. But the record exec said he wasn't hearing the single. The album was called "Uncle Tom's Cabin". Art work was done. All tracks recorded. Warrant went back to the studio and recorded Cherry Pie. Four days later, the cover work on the album was re-done, the title was Cherry Pie, and Jani Lane became known as the Cherry Pie Guy. Sorry, Jani, I know you had a lot of great hits like The Down Boys, Machine Gun, and I Saw Red but you'll forever be known as the Cherry Pie Guy. So, for your listening pleasure, click the link in my sig for the music video to "Uncle Tom's Cabin".

Imoutgoodbye
Had to cherry pie, it, didn't you? I think her name is Bobby Brown.
Iusedtobesomebody
Warrant sucks. For true Heavy Metal schooling, go way back to the first metal band to get serious radio airplay (which opened the door for every other metal band to make money)- Quiet Riot
The Professor
Give me some Black Sabbath.....enough said...well, that and maybe a little of Dio, that guy can surely sing.

Amazingly enough, they tried to screw it up in the studio, but it backfired and what you hear on the radio is the first and only take done in the studio. Don't worry, Prof, I plan on covering Heaven and Hell (Dio Sabbath) next week.

"Open up some doors"? If by that you mean "create a mad signing scramble by a vast majority of the record labels to snap up metal bands", then yes, they "opened up some doors". Heh. But it was Cum on Feel the Noize that the masses took to. Only Metal fans knew what was on the album of Metal Health. "Bang your head! Metal Health will drive you wild!" KRins
The only metal worth listening to is DethClock. I went to their concert thing in Orlando for a laugh. Some of it was actually decent. Honestly though, Black Sabbath is my fave.
Dizz
I love the Uncle Tom's Cabin song. It was a good song/video to listen to back in the days that MTV played music. One of my favorite videos was the battle of the band vid of Aerosmith vs. Run DMC singing Walk this way. I thought it was a great marriage of metal and rap. Rens AC/DC will get their say, albeit much later. Metallica will also get their say along with the other three main thrash metal bands that came along at the end of "teeth" or "hair" metal, whichever term you prefer. 100 points to anyone who can name the other three thrash bands that go along with Metallica. Rensvert
I would also have to say Nirvana but that may not be who you are thinking of. Rens
Imoutgoodbye
Slayer is one. But you don't get the points. Nirvana is Grunge. And Pantera came along years after Metallica. The other three bands were all within a year of Metallica's rise.
Rensvert
Are we talking about when Metallica first came out with an album or when they hit it really freakin big? Because that's the differance of like 4 or 5 albums? Because I guess if I had to guess I would say Slayer, Megadeth, Metallica, and gosh probably Anthrax although Anthrax is prolly the baby of those 4. Imoutgoodbye
100 points to Rensvert. Anthrax may not be big, but they're not the baby of the group. They're on par with Slayer, but they're a refined listening taste.
