Evangelion
EDITED After reading this again, I realized this post serves no purpose, other than being a shot at the player of Kravian.. Therefore, edited... -Gradrel

J.Twendrist
Lol, naw, it's all good. I thought it made the emotes and stuff look more complete, but I guess it is incorrect usage.

Mudder
I don't. It looks fine. What does bother me are when people use the emote speech like this. Someone does some nifty rp, " and they leave a big space in the beginning." OR Someone does nifty rp. "If there is a period, why couldn't they just say it? They are separate actions now." Deykari
I always do the latter. emote eats an apple. "Mmm, that's nice!" he exclaims. or emote points at Bob's hand. "What's that in your hand Bob?" for a few examples. In the latter example for instance, it just seems more right to seperate the two than to have: emote points at Bob's hand "What's that in your hand Bob?" I don't know if it's right or wrong, and I could just alter it to add 'and says' or something, but it's just habit. I can't help it. Just like a lot of the time I write: 'emote says "Hello."' instead of just: 'say Hello.' *shrug* Dey
KRins
Or you could just newb RP like me and keep my emotes and speech seperate...
Deykari
Use of emotes doesn't necessarily dictate the quality of roleplay. Dey
Icor
I think in terms of the period at the end of an emote, and then some dialogue, we're talking about pacing. You don't want to swamp the other people with information by doing a zillion little says or emotes, but you also don't want to have a say that's 4 lines long. Call it "RP Courtesy"... give the other people time to react to whatever happens in the room, even if that means sloooooowing yourself down for them, even though you know you could go faster. Deykari
Yeah. Roleplaying is like a two-way-sway. Dey
Imoutgoodbye
emote points at Bob's hand. "What's that in your hand Bob?" for a few examples. In the latter example for instance, it just seems more right to seperate the two than to have: emote points at Bob's hand "What's that in your hand Bob?" In your above example, you could also use: emote points at Bob's hand, "What's in your hand, Bob?" emote points at Bob's hand, asking, "What's in your hand, Bob?" The comma by itself in the first emote raises the spirit of the "asking" in the second sentence without having to use it and has been long standing in literature. You don't have to separate them with a period. Sometimes I do, sometimes I don't. But I do feel cleaner using a period. Maybe it's because I come equipped with tampons these days. Anywho, I never even saw the original post to this, so, I hope I'm not raining on anyone's (except Evangelion's) parade.
Deykari
Oh, I'm not judging. I meant it feels more right for me to do it that way. I'm not really bothered how people do what they do, as long as they do. Woah, check me out, I sounded like some sort of hip-hop MC then. Then, Bob would see: Deykari points to your hand "What's that in your hand, Bob?"
Deykari
Actually, assuming there was myself, a player, and a mob called bob in the room, that'd be 100% legit. Nah, you were right, and I'd have used pmote anyway IG, I just did that for example. Dey
Icor
pmote points at Bob's hand "What's that in your hand Bob?" Will appear as: Deykari points at your hand "What's that in your hand you?"
Anoneemus
Actually' date=' in the bolded case, you should use pmote. Then, Bob would see: Deykari points to [u']your hand "What's that in your hand, Bob?" Was it changed? Because I thought in that case Bob would see "What's that in your hand, you?"
