Evangelion
You know, I was just discussing this with Samag the other day. Perhaps the reason I'm not hesitant to delete characters, and in this case, to support a pwipe, is because I'm capable of ranking and training a character in 20 hours or so. I suppose I can see it from both sides. The question is, do the advantages outweigh the disadvantages, or vice versa?

Just reading your own post, you admit you have a large advantage towards starting out at the head of the pack. You feel a pwipe would benefit you. Maybe temporarily. There will be no pwipe. I would suggest if you want to talk about pwipes, you make a seperate post.

goldbond
well i'm just saying why is there definitely not a p-wipe. if the game would undertake a change as major as this why not then.
Raargant
There will never be a pwipe unless it is critically necessary to implement a change. It is not even marginally necessary in this case.
Pali
well i'm just saying why is there definitely not a p-wipe. if the game would undertake a change as major as this why not then. Yes, why shouldn't we just delete thousands of hours of work of several dozen (probably more) people when there's no need to do so? I mean, hell, it's not like anybody would care about all that time lost, right? Come on, people. Pwipes are not desireable... they chase people away from the mud (the 1.0 to 2.0 pwipe had me quit for over half a year, and I wasn't the only one) by pissing them off and sweeping away tons of their work. If there's no need for one, why are you guys asking for it?
Deykari
Ditto. I actually can't see any good reason why there should be one, unless it's just Bali wanting all of the 'power figures' removed so he can train, pinn and deck out in 20 hours and become one of them. Ex-D&Der
The pwipe almost killed the MUD. It should never happen again.

goldbond
since this reply so directing to my comment i would say that the people that are "pissed off" are the vets that will stay here anyway. imo who cares, because i know they'll keep playing. they are the same people that know how to power-rank, know everything anyway, and theyre current main characters represent an omnipresent roadblock to new power structure in this game. that's why i'd like to see one. of course this is all a non-issue now so it's whatever. but since you took the time to lay out your reasons, i did the same. i really don't feel sorry for vets who know how to pinnacle in a week or less, become the long-terms leaders of cabals and major RP, and sit there dominating PK when they could do it all again in no time. i have a 130 hour character and wouldnt quit over a p-wipe. it wouldn't "devastate" the MUD. lol. Pali
Goldbond, I don't even have a character right now, but I'm against a pwipe because I know how it would affect others. Pwipes SUCK for anyone who doesn't personally just want the current powerful chars gone... if you're getting owned by the powerful chars now, you'll just get owned by the new powerful chars after the wipe because those players are simply better than you. I do not say this to be offensive, but as statement of fact... some people are just more talented in some arenas than others, and that's all there is to it. Think of it like a game of Unreal Tournament... you starting a new match and making everyone have pistols at spawn doesn't stop the same person who outscored you by 20 points last match from doing it again. He's not outscoring you because he's got the better weapons... he's doing it because he's the better player (which is a large part of why he's got the better weapons). goldbond
right, you are the one bringing up "getting owned," not me. i'm talking about the entire power structure of this game, and not me personally getting owned, which doesn't even matter an iota in the grand scheme. p-wipe: maybe some new cabal would be ultra-dominate that wasn't before, and it would be a real change to the structure of the current game. although i doubt it would be Knight since it looks like goods are still under-represented. anyway we'll never know will we? If everyone rolls what they have before (and judging from last time, 95% of the pbase will) then it goes back to the way it was. Hell, some players didn't even changed their name last time. If you think there are players on characters who are blocking what you want to do then kill them. If you can't kill them fight them until you can. Its that simple. Always has been, always will be. Too time consuming and mindless. That's one of the reasons I stopped playing most of my chars, too many things to train. As a matter of fact, I am rolling another char right now, I am too bored of training my cleric. And in my opinion, pwipes should NEVER happen, hours upon hours of training would be lost, and that can only lead to player frustration.

Deykari
You have to bring your own cake and your own drinks. Which I'm allowed to share, as a result of being self-appointed chairman as of right now so I can get some free cake and drinks. You also have to bring me Petra Nemcova. KRins
I'll bring drinks, I'll bring cake...You know what I love training. That little mastered message is my greatest triumph in game. Deykari
I'm not anti-training. I think training takes the right amount of time for it to give your characters a sense of value, without it being too much effort to train most characters... I just personally don't like training because I'm lazy. A pwipe would make me vomit, especially if one came in as I decided to take the plunge and play my first ever Monk or Blademaster. Iconz
Ive been through 2 pwipes on FL... there was one very early on when i started playing and then there was the pwipe from 1.0 - 2.0. Yeah... people itchbayed... and it kinda sucked both times... but most people come back. Sometimes a fresh start is a good thing.... but for the newer players who think that it gives them a better chance... and it evens the playing field... it really doesnt. A pwipe just for the sake of seeing new faces... well ... its just a way to spite people who may have found a char they liked and invested alot of time on that char. If theres gunna be a pwipe... at least let it be for a good uckinfay reason eh? __________________ Iconz - Igpay atinlay is oolcay way to wearsay... Kyzarius
pwipes screw newer players because all the vets who are for the most part profficent at pkill at all lvls of the game are now flying through ALL ranks at once.
