Anoneemus
The man does have a point. I remember being online for the last world shift that carried the purge, we went to town and cleaned out everything. I think doing it any other way might be too tough to code though. L-A
This is such a huge change - and a really excellent one, that I don't want to disparage it all. I'm not in anyway putting this down, or not appreciating the work done, but the one thing I could see as a problem with this that it gives an advantage to people who's play times match with the rare purge time. I'm, not sure how tough it would be to code, but would it possible for the Pfiles to be purged of rares at a set amount of time after their last log in - say 31 days or so? This would mean that rares would come back in to play when they haven't been used for awhile, but also doesn't mean that certain people can just camp the MUD at the right time to get all the rares. Life isn't fair. Get used to it.

Lexi
Life isn't fair. Get used to it. And that is an argument not to balance a part of the game? Stagnation - get used to it.
Iusedtobesomebody
Stagnation - get used to it. Time put in = reward. Get used to it.
Pali
Time put in = reward. Get used to it. While on the whole I agree with this sentiment, I've got to say that in this specific case I think Melinda, English lad and Anoneemus have a good exception to the rule. A sudden resurgence in the game of tons of rares is a HUGE advantage to whoever happens to be playing at the time, something which comes down entirely to a) luck or planning for it by being such a powergamer you look for the timing of this kind of thing in every online game you play. If it's not a pain in the arse to code, I see no reason why we shouldn't support evening this out a little bit (such as the previously-mentioned idea of rarepurging chars individually based on inactivity within a time period instead of as a group - i.e. If Bob doesn't play X hours in any 31 day time period, he's wiped, instead of if Bob doesn't play X hours from July 1st to August 1st he's wiped). However, I'd say this is not a major problem by any means, so if it IS a pain in the arse to code then... get used to it.
Zhokril
When it takes place isn't any sort of predictable pattern, so this isn't really an issue. There isn't much more that will be said about this, so let's get back on topic.
