Voting and new players

7th on tms and dropping..

A couple of months ago we showed we easily have the Playerbase to keep top 5 on a regular basis, as with anything i think the 'fad' of voting has passed, and a lot of people that did for that period of time have stopped.

What i want to think about is what impact do we think voting, and being high on the mud sites like TMS and Mudmagic actually has.

I'm really looking for a lot of input from players who have recently joined the game here, as i think we all agree we want a larger playerbase, and if newer people found us due to our recent voting spike, i think we should really work at keeping up there.

For me, I actually found this game 3/4 years ago or so (not sure exact when, near the start of 3.0 I think, Dey can probably be more accurate as we started within a couple of weeks of each other I think)

I had played and Immed on another Mud for a couple of years, and due to certain frustrations there had retired my IMM character and was looking for something new, I stuck my requirements for what I wanted out of a MUD into the advanced search on TMS, and then spent a couple of weeks plugging through the many muds it suggested, this one stuck.

So for me voting position wasn't so much of an issue, as what features the MUD was listed as having, but i'd be interested in seeing what effect the voting has, if any, on some of our other newer players.

When I was looking for a new mud to play on TMS, I was particularly interested in the following:

- number of players online

- the main site. Yeah, FL doesn't have one.

- ranking, I wouldn't have bothered looking at the second page of listings. Being in the first 10 at the time was certainly a plus though.
