Guest emp_newb
I kinda need a bit of advice, see as of now I have an ogre, Id like to hear if anyone has some cleric pk tactics for me, I dont have trouble with much else except clerics. I guess Im going to have to get at least decent mental saves, but on top of that any hints?
Ghrialton
I think fighting clerics boils down to finding a way to lag them, and being an excellent chaser so they can't heal up quickly. Lag = spell prevention - dispel good/evil, dispel magic(?). Chase = heal/buff prevention - cure critical, reset sanc/protective shield, flight. Time your attacks to when their most critical spell will drop. Against a cleric I would consider this to be protective shield rather than sanc. Master bash/bodyslam/haymaker, whatever you get. Acerbity
Afflictive saves. Deykari did a nice little research set way back when, and afflictive saves help a lot against path/ray of truth. That is, I'm sure that's where they're kicking your ***, right? *** DEMOLISHES *** / *** OBLITERATES *** through sanc? Yeah.. work on the affl. Deykari
The research didn't really work as planned because I wasn't fighting the same cleric in each case, and of course, path/ray damage is relative in some way, to kills. However it still did help me a lot, and I started to do a lot better against Evil Clerics :o Don't take the below as gospel, I just happen to have a very trial-and-error approach to problems in FL. If one way doesn't work, try another. If that works, keep at it until it doesn't work, and find out why it did and didn't work in various situations. There may well be some better way to deal with them.. Evil cleric ministers you with ease and starts to hit the path damage hard? Instead of focusing on blocking minister, focus more on blocking what they can do to you AFTER you're ministered. That isn't to say that you should neglect mental saves, but, focus on having good afflictive saves to cut down their path damage a good deal. If you're an Ogre, you're obviously a fighting class, so that coupled with a good hit/dam will mean you can survive that bit longer in combat with the cleric, and dish out some melee pain. If you can spare it, without comprimising on -aff saves or hit/dam too much, -mal saves might be of help in some situations. Good luck chasing them minstered though, when you've beat them down to within an inch of their lives... Dey

Warpnow
If a cleric is running...and you lose him...run. Clerics have that super turn around ability where they can go from almost dead to owning your *** ina matter of seconds. If they flee, and get too far ahead, give up...run, sleep, start the fight OVER. Drawn out fights with clerics are -always- in their favor. A smart cleric isn't going to be lagged. Period. End of story. If you find a cleric stupid enough, sure, lag him, but don't rely on it. I reccomend just padding your hr/dr and work on killing the before they can lay mals. It sounds primitive, but its the only way a giant/ogre has ever taken out one of my clerics. Don't draw out the fight. Wield axes or whips, have your hr/dr in the 60s...and go to town...and when they flee, follow. If you are too slow/ministered and can't follow fast enough, run. Sleep. Let the mals fall, try again. Don't follow a cleric more than an area...they are prolly casting cure crits every couple rooms or so and you will suddenly realize when you left he was at awful, you at 60%, but now...he is at 100% and your still at 60%...and he already has some of his old mals on you. End the fight fast, or retreat.
