EyeSeeU
Man! Uriah Faber "the California Kid" is the truth. Who wants to see Kimbo Slice anyways, he got old in backyard fights against undermatched opponents. In fact I won't even waste my valuable time watching it. Here is a fight you should watch though. Faber VS. Brown and Paulo Filho VS. Chael Sonnen November 5th on Versus.
HouselessRogue
After Faber fights BJ Penn or Sean Sherk I'll be impressed.
Iconz
Ken was never really all that sick. FRANK was/is the man. You kiddin? Ken Shamrock was NASTY in the day... lemme remind you that he beat Bas Rutten TWICE... Frank beat Bas once.. then lost two him two times in a row. For anyone who doesnt know who Bas Rutten is... dude is 28-4... and there was this who showed that he could kill a man with one of his kicks. Ken Shamrock fought Royce Gracie for 36 mins straight to a draw back when Royce was nasty... and Ken beat Dan Severn.. Naw man... back in his prime Ken was sick. He deserves his Hall of Fame status. Old age caught up to him and now his chin is beyond suspect... his last 5 fights have all ended w/ him bein knocked out... Ken sure is talkin that good ish though... i predict Kimbo is going to hit him w/ one square on the button in the 1st round...and that will be all for Mr. Shamrock. Urijah Faber looks nasty... but imho hes only been the king of the JV squad.. i know Krins is going to crucify me for saying it hehehe... but the WEC fighters arent fighting top level guys. You want to be varsity... fight varsity level fighters. Faber fought two UFC level guys... Tyson Griffin (who he lost to) and an aging/declining Jens Pulver who lost 3 of his last 4 fights... one of them to TUF 5 contestant Joe Lauzon. I dont want to sound like im hatin... i think Faber has got skills... he demolished Lil Evil... but i want to see what he can do against some of the big boys. So... how come no one has yet to mention Rashad Evans putting the Iceman to sleep? I feel bad man.. is this the end of Liddell? Can he come back from this? He has had a couple of suspect losses lately... __________________ Iconz - Kids.. this is why you always quit when you're ahead... walk away when you're on top! EyeSeeU
After Faber fights BJ Penn or Sean Sherk I'll be impressed. First of all BJ Penn just went up to 170, Faber fights at 145. They would have to both meet in the middle say 155. I've heard that Faber is willing to move up and down in weightclass to fight BIG fights. Oh and to answer you Iconz, Sugar is the REAL DEAL! In December I think, Forrest Griffin will battle with Rashad Evans. It will be the battle of the best ultimate fighter so to speak... heh!

EyeSeeU
I will be cheering for my boy Ken to get a lucky K.O. but I think we all know who is going to win here... Kimbo Slice!
Zrothum
If Ken can take it to the ground I think he's got it covered. Kimbo is a great athlete and I'm sure he's training hard...but I dunno. Ken is getting old and sluggish too though...... I'm giving it to Kimbo in the first. Ken will get too cocky or catch an unexpected jaw-breaker in a clinch. If it goes into the 2nd round though....Kimbo's cardio is shot. Ken can get a submission...I say its a coin flip. Zrothum
.........wow. what a crock of crap. They won't be fighting. Ken sustained a cut over his eye "Warming up". They showed the press release weigh in from yesterday lol...Ken shoved Kimbo in the back....would have been a nasty fight I think....I hope they put it on the next card. Kimbo is still fighting, cant remember who though. edit: its Slice vs seth petruzelli now

killalou
well thats fighting for you. Its about luck. Kimbo sliped and got rabbit punch lagged. Props go to his opponent for taken advantage of the opportunity and do it fast. Cause if he didnt he would have loss, lol.
EyeSeeU
I don't think that dude would have lost, he was in the ultimate fighter series season 2 or 3 I think. That dude has been doing MMA since he was 7. Kimbo was in for a rude awakening. That just goes to show you what real opponents can do to a street fighter. Iconz
Yeah... that was rough for my man Kimbo... but anyone can get caught. Name me a great fighter who hasnt been caught... not saying Kimbo is a great mma fighter... hes far far far FAR from it... but ish happens. Beautiful short hook by Petruzelli. I say its karma for Kimbo not tappin gloves w/ him in the start of the fight... __________________ Iconz - In the wise words of Chop Chop Onion Master "Don't get cocky / it's gonna get rocky / we gonna move down to the next ya jockey"
A Poet's Blade
Perfect fight. Kimbo Slice has no right being in MMA and never did. He is just a big dude that throws hard in EVERY exchange. He has 0 boxing and is 100% brawler. His aggression got the better of him as he ran out trying to overwhelm Petruzelli and got caught. " Cause if he didn't he would have loss, lol. " Isn't that fighting? Good thing Muhammad Ali was able to take advantage of his opponent's failing to put their hands up in time, else he would have lost. :-p Iconz - Fedor Emelianenko. Dude is a beast. Also... and this is VALID criticism... outside of Tim Sylvia who has Fedor fought of note recently? Youd have to go back to like CroCop in 2005. Fedor needs to fight more talent... its like his career is being wasted... I want to see him fight bigger names! I know you do too... Also... what gives you the right to say Kimbo shouldnt be an MMA fighter? The man is training hard and hes taking his lumps....im tired of this elitist attitude that people have about who has and who doesnt have the right to fight or be a fighter. Dana White is the biggest offender... he calls Kimbo a sideshow fighter... yet he is giving former WWE superstar (and failed NFL prospect) Brock Lesnar a title shot? :/ . I hope Couture wastes him... even tho the sad thing is that age might have finally caught up to Captain America.. but at least Minotauro or Mir should unify the belt if that happens. Kimbo is entertaining to watch... and shouldnt Dana White strive to give people entertaining matches instead of trying to keep this hypocritical "purity" in MMA? Everyone knew Tank Abbott wasnt a "real" MMA fighter... but people loved to watch him fight... its entertainment people! Sheesh! I say... give us Kimbo vs Shamrock... or Ken Shamrock vs Frank Shamrock... or Tito vs Frank Shamrock! __________________ Iconz - Am I the only one waiting for the day when Fedor steps into the ring against someone and says, "I must break you"? Zrothum
I love Kimbo's attitude and I love to watch him fight. It's funny that people give him such a hard time....he is the most selfless, humble guy I've seen in a long time. He can't help it that the media blows his ish up like crazy. He knows he has a long way up in MMA, he's not afraid to admit it, nor is he afraid to put in the work..... If anyone should be catching heat over it...it's the media. Blame them, not Kimbo I say. A Poet's Blade
Kimbo Slice is an alley brawler who got his name known through youtube.com of all things. That is not a professional fighter, its a publicity stunt. Dana White is correct. Brock Lesner, on the other hand, is a serious athlete. Anyone that disagrees needs to look at the man's history. All American wrestler, Vikings player, and ex pro-wrestler. All those things require an insane amount of athletic ability. Though, I agree that Brock doesn't deserve to go against Couture. I have a feeling(my theory) that Kimbo Slice is a short lived name. He will fight a few more fights, lose them, and he will just become another failed brawler trying to hang with serious athletes. Whats sad is Petruzelli won't progress from this victory. An MMA fighter that WON his fight and I am confident he will not become anymore known than, " that guy that knocked out Slice in 14seconds." Kimbo doesn't deserve the chance to fight bigger named people like Ken Shamrock. He is still struggling to defeat the unknowns to moderately known. Iconz
Thats your opinion... which you are -more- than entitled to... but its just not definitive truth. I just dont think its right for anyone to downplay someone who didnt go through the traditional route. What makes Kevin Fergusson not a serious athelete? Had it not been for Hurricane Andrew... he would have most likely been playing D1 college football... he is in the gym training like any other fighter before every match...what makes him not a fighter? The only difference between him and any other guy is the fact that he didnt start training martial arts/wrestling when he was 8 years old... he didnt have that priveledge. And yes... getting a gym membership is a priveledge that some who arent socioeconomically blessed or part of a fighting family dont always get the opportunity to do (notice how a lot of fighters come from rural areas and not urban/inner city kids?)... So hes not a fighter because he didnt have the priveledge of signing on to some top gym to learn jiu jitsu, muy thai, grappling, etc... but hes a man who is fighting because he loves to fight and he wants to feed his family.... So what makes a fighter a fighter? Training and background? Or the love of fighting? Dana White has said a gajillion times on TUF.. most notably in his infamous Do you want to be a f****** fighter speech what he thinks a fighter is. Sounds like Kimbo to me... i have respect for anyone who trains hard and steps into that cage cuz its definitely not something i could do. So it seems like the only beef people have w/ Kimbo is that he got famous thru youtube. So what? Youtube isnt putting hours training in the gym... youtube isnt stepping into the ring and fighting... does it matter where he got famous if he is taking this seriously and training? They havent even given him a big name fighter to fight yet.. simply because hes not ready.. he's had like a year of training. Id like to see what Fedor could have done with just a year of Sambo training. Saying hes not a good MMA fighter is fair... he really isnt well-round and like you said a pure brawler... but saying hes not a fighter at all is just wrong/mean-spirited/elitist. Honestly...it all comes down to a serious overdose of haterade... haterade poisoning if you will. Hes getting all of this hype... why? Because people like watching him... the San Antonio Spurs are one of the best teams in the NBA... but their finals against the Cavaliers was one of the least watched NBA finals in history... why? People dont like watching them play. This is why Boxing is being lapped by MMA... its not entertaining anymore.. where are the storylines? Your Ali v Frazier.. Hollyfield vs Tyson.. Duran vs Leonard.. Now that Mayweather retired... who do they have that has a personality? Someone who can get people talking... and funny thing is that Boxing enthusiasts have the same attitude that Dana White and other haters have against people like Kimbo "These MMA guys arent serious athletes.. its not even a sport.. they could never step into our world." Pfff... haters. __________________ Bishop Don Magic Iconz - Dont hate the player... hate the game.
