EyeSeeU
I agree with most of what you said other then your Brock Lesnar shananagins. Brock like Kimbo Slice only really knew how to fight in one field of fighting. In MMA today you had better know more. Both of them are learning. I feel both will succeed in some way shape or form at some point. Kimbo may be too old to have only started learning MMA. Brock Lesnar may have what it takes to hold the belt one day. Right now if both people fought I think Brock would beat Kimbo. Anyone who steps into any enclosed cage and brawls with nothing more then leather knuckle pads and a good tape job has the right to be called a fighter. Iconz is right... who are we to say? Who are we to judge? I know for damn sure your not on payperview reeling in the $!

Grim_Reefer
Whatever, Kimbo would kick my *** and probably the *** of anyone on this forum. Talking trash about him because hes "not a real fighter" or whatever is like stupid playground "He's not playing fair, waaa" crybaby BS. Seriously? I'd give him props for going from internet fame to like.. MMA stardom. Whatever, I don't even watch this garbage.
HouselessRogue
Kimbo... finally.. people will stop talking about him. Sorry Iconz for my late response but Ken Shamrock is a legend. I give him that. But he was never dominate like a Fedor or Anderson Silva. He has lost his last five fights (and several in between) and his most recent to a guy named Robert Berry. Who is Robert Berry you ask? Good question. I have no idea either. Kimbo is a joke. He is a big and powerful dude but he lacks any real skill in the MMA world. HBwillie
After Faber fights BJ Penn or Sean Sherk I'll be impressed. He lost to Tyson Griffin in that division. Where he is now is where he will reign. The guys you mention won't go 145 and Faber won't gain. Also, if you're not impressed with what Faber has done, you haven't seen his fights. Iconz
I dunno HB... i think if they offer the Cali Kid the right payday hes gunna be open to go up to fight some top dogs. Faber is really fun to watch.. i like his style... and he has been impressive.. but not as impressive as he could be. Am i the only one who thinks that Gina Carano is going to get her butt handed to her by Cyborg? Gina's ground game looks a bit suspect ... and Cyborg is a great bjj fighter. __________________ Iconz - Everyday i become a bigger fan of women MMA.. that rhymed eh? Zrothum
Yea, I'm thinking Gina is gonna lose. Cyborg just LOOKS scary.... Gina is hot and is a good fighter...but I think Cyborg is gonna take it down.
Zrothum
http://www.sun-sentinel.com/video/?autoStart=true&topVideoCatNo=default&clipId=2992072 That's why I like this guy. He has an amazing attitude about the sport, about himself, and just about most things I hear him talk about. I hope he goes far. It's people like Kimbo Slice that the phrase "Don't judge a book by it's cover" was popularized.

The guys you mention won't go 145 and Faber won't gain. Also' date=' if you're not impressed with what Faber has done, you haven't seen his fights.[/quote'] His fights are impressive but the caliber of competition is way below what he would find in the UFC. You can't say a guy is a great fighter until he beats great fighters. That's my point. The guy has skills but I won't be on his bandwagon until I see some big names under his win column. Most of his fights fall under the WHO IS THIS GUY? column. Jeff Curran (28-9), Cole Escovedo (11-4, 3 straight losses), Ivan Menjivar (IFL fighter 20-7, 2 straight losses), Charles Bennett (21-14). These aren't quality opponents. Tyson Griffen owned him. Jens Pulver is old and well out of his prime and Urijah still couldn't finish him. He needs to step up his competition if he wants to be the next great one.
HBwillie
I beg to differ. Jeff Curran, in my opinion, IS a very game opponent. He has outstanding jiu-jitsu and his striking isn't too shabby either. He lost due to Faber's superior wrestling and physical strength. The guys you mentioned are in the WEC for a reason. Though I agree, it is sort of like the junior varsity, whereas the UFC is the varsity team. If there were a 145 lb. division introduced into the UFC and Joe Silva began scouting talent for it as much as he does the current weight classes, I believe Faber would still reign. Don't get me wrong, I'm not a huge Faber fan. I partially dislike him because he comes off as arrogant to me, and my fiancee thinks he's hot (even though he has a crater on his face where his chin should be). EyeSeeU
I'm a Faber fan, you all know that saying "the kids got IT!" you don't know what "it" is but he has "it". To whomever said Jeff Curran isn't a game opponent, I should smack you. Seriously, Jeff is one of the best trainers/teachers of BJJ/MMA in this country. Iconz
ummm..... i didnt get to watch this... but im hearin that Faber just got knocked tha f*** out... in the first round... can anyone verify this? EDIT: Yeah uh... pictures worth a thousand words... Guess that makes Torres the king of the JV squad now... __________________ Iconz - Told ya... anyone whos in the biz for a long time can get caught... HBwillie
It was a TKO. Brown caught Faber with a straight shot as Faber was throwing an unorthodox back-elbow coming off the cage. Faber fell clumsily to the mat, dazed, and gave up his back as Brown came to finish. Brown wrapped his left arm around Faber's waist and pummeled Urijah with right uppercuts under his armpit until the ref stopped the fight. LONG LIVE KING TORRES! Seriously, Jeff is one of the best trainers/teachers of BJJ/MMA in this country.[/quote'] Teaching it and fighting are very different beasts. I have a BJJ black belt. Doesn't mean I can go win a title, but I can, however, teach you how to apply a kimura. The creme de la creme are a very different breed of people. It takes a special person to fight for a living. I am not saying the kids in WEC aren't talented but they aren't ready to be called World Class. There is a huge difference. Great FIGHTING BJJ. Three words: Antônio Rodrigo Nogueira. HBwillie
I can think of a much better example of an amazing BJJ stylist in MMA. Shinya Aoki. I believe you're bat s*** crazy if you think Miguel Torres isn't a world class 135 pounder.
HouselessRogue
I like Torres better than Faber. Always have. BUT, the talent pool at that weight class is not what it is at 170, 185, 205. With that said, I can't think of a single bantamweight that could beat him right now. Aoki. No way. Noguera is sick. SICK!
EyeSeeU
So what you are saying is if there is no talent at your weightclass, then that renders you not "world class"? Faber is world class, and so is Torres.

Iconz
To kinda go even deeper w/ that thought EyeSeeU... i think that every great champion needs to have a big name foe... or two... i mean... Ali had Frazier and Foreman.... Hollyfield had Tyson and Lennox Lewis... Lidell had Coture and Tito... Anderson Silva had Ace and Henderson... Rocky had Apollo, Clubber Lang, and The Russian... The Rock had Stone Cold and Triple H... Orealt had Miscreant... McDonalds has Burger King and Wendys. Look... what im gettin at is that no one can say Faber isnt a great athelete... but he doesnt have those one or two foes that put him over... not to mention most of the competition at featherweight is in japan too... so basically its like... you cant call yourself the best without fighting other people who everyone else recognizes as the best and beating them. Thats like being an undefeated d3 basketball team... yeah.. you get props... but holla at me after you beat UNC... More interestin topic! Who wins tonight... Lesnar or Couture? I wouldnt be surprised either way... i want Couture to win cuz i dont really dont think Lesnar is deserving of a title shot... but i can also see old age catchin up to the Cap and gettin GNP'd out by the much younger and stronger opponent... __________________ Iconz - Damn it... now i want an archrival... any takers? HBwillie
Ok, Nogueira and Aoki...I'm curious who people think is the better all-around jiu jitsu practitioner. I lean toward Aoki for his speed, flashiness and innovation. Some hardcore fans may lean toward Nogueira for being as successful as he has been using a more traditional Brazilian style. It has been said Nogueira doesn't lose fights, he just runs out of time. To this day, Minotauro has never been finished in a fight. Here are some highlight links for those of you who might not be familiar with these two. Bear in mind, these may not be the best representation of their prowess, but please weigh in with your opinions. Shinya Aoki "The Baka Survivor" Antonio Rodrigo "Minotauro" Nogueira
EyeSeeU
They are both great. I really can't say which one would beat the other. I doubt either one would tap out though. So perhaps a TKO would end the fight.
HouselessRogue
Well again, Minotauro has never been stopped. He has a head of granite and no one can out maneuver him on the ground. I just hope that he wraps it up before ages comes along so he can go down as a great and not wind up a has been.Though he has plenty of time left...
