Locked Get rid of items that add resistance

These items generally shouldn't exist without at least giving a weakness in return

What items are you speaking of?

Because i can only think of 2. One being the ring of evil.

Ash cloak (fire), back brace (lighting), ring of evil (mental), charm string (charm). There was the mask for drowning. 

I like the idea of a drawback, too.

Is it Ring of Abyss that everyone is talking about?

They're unique quality meaning two total.  I don't even bother getting them lol.  Just let some Chinese gold farmer grab them then ok him.

Ring of abyss, broodmothers fang, respirator, back brace, chukchi charm string, Ash cloam

There are more than that, but in truth they are mostly against magical.

Granite slab (bash resist), Broodmother's fang (poison resist), Charm string (charm resist), Ring of Abyss (mental resist), back brace (lightning resist), respirator (disease resist), Ash cloak (fire resist)

Notice the trend?  7 resistance items and only one of them is pure physical resistance.  I'd rather see them all gone as well or changed to add a weakness and given better stats.  Like ash cloak makes you weak against cold but heals you slightly like fleshworks.  Respirator already has a hidden benefit, so I wouldn't change that.

@Archbishop MonkTheirs also the Adeptus Face (somewhat of dirt resist).

Adeptus' face isn't really a resistance though.  It clears what happens after the fact.  Otherwise, you'd have to add in a few cabal items like warmaster items

Lag resist is the worst idea I've ever heard, facetious or not. Abyss is unnaturally beefy all by itself.

We discussed the cloak when it was made. There were concerns about being able to cover a vuln, but it was decided that since it was unique we’d let it slide. Haven’t seen much of a problem so far.

Items and vulns... That's a really tricky topic and multifaceted. Not all vulns are created equally. What may be ok for some vulns, like mental, are not ok for other vulns, like fire. Trying to blanket them is, at least I believe, an error.

Well it fundamentally changes how pk works and balancing factors for alot of things.like a super decked high dex race should fear call lightning for example. A character who skimps saves should fear dispel or a shaman etc etc

It was changed. Feral can't use it because of a feral using it and wrecking people iirc

We also changed back brace for saders or was it just storms due to racial resist lightning.  Nothing else has really been too imbalanced from snooping pks and logs.  If you have an example please share.  Most of these items are class/race restrictions

I just feel that items that add resistances should have downsides. There is no downside to abyss, or backbrace, for example. You wear them, boom, instantly better. In the age of 200 hp murder rounds, you don't need to save every spell. 2 or 3 is more than enough.

Lets remove everything and make the game as boring as possible, because people are lazy and hate to adapt.

They have dowsides. Their most common downside is that they suck.
