TBH, more than the the clan quests, I woul dlike to see goodie guildmasters not ask you to slay goodie mobs. My paladin gets almost every other quest to kill a goodie, and since there are never any groups about at my times, I'm just like... "Crap. Ok, lets go train my armor spell..."
Nobody is going to care if you log out and log back in because you were asked to kill a good mob as a good character, I should think. The code has limitations; the spirit of the rules here are to prevent abuse. As long as you are not abusing anything, it should be fine.
I only get annoyed when people decide to want more and more.
Perhaps I was a little harsh in my language, and I full heartedly apologise for it. (rough time at work, working 7 days a week up to 16 hours a day makes me edgy
, sorry.)
But Valganti said very well, give someone a treat and they will want ten more. Ranking through guild quests is INCREDIBLY easy.

There is often 0 risk to your person as there is in ranking,
-
You dont have to do the task, you can ignore it and train/solo hunt/contemplate the mysteries of life instead.
-
It takes 3 hard quests on average to gain an ENTIRE rank.
I can easily say that when I have ranked from rank 30-50 each quest was taking me between 3 - 7 minutes. Total. From start to finish. Tell me where you can get that sort of exp in 3 minutes? Or pinn in two hours from thirty?
In conclusion:
This idea of guild quests is new, and its incredibly nice. Imagine how bad life would be if we didnt have it? You would be stuck in those ranks FOREVER. If the quests overlap then damn, guess that sucks, but hey im still getting gold AND exp from this quest anyway. And it only happens once every 3-5 ranks. IF YOU'RE LUCKY... Clan quests do not pop all that often.
Simple solution: Be happy with what you have, because you never know when it will be taken away.
^------All fair and true. Just a simple idea blown out of proportion.
No biggy.
But still it's a good idea, that could be thought about.
Thanks, Aulian, that is what I wanted to hear. That is all true and I think that the quests are a needed part of the game right now due to a smaller Pbase (and for those of us who get on at odd times). If we can get in more players, we could easily tone them down, etc. As for the overlapping, it is just a pain and I do deal with it, but it doesn't seem like it would be too hard to fix. What do I know though?
I know the pain of ranking in odd hours and playing only certain times. Ranking in with a group is definitely a lot more dangerous than ranking solo off quests. I can think of one way off the top of my head to tell exactly where you are assuming you're ranking normally and not through guild quests. Yeah, it sucks when this sort of thing happens, yeah the idea is nice, but to be honest I don't think it's needed really. If you're evil you can kill your guild guard to get back in because you're pissed he wont let you in because of a little blood. Why the hell should he care you're a little bloody, eh? Neutral/Good wont have that leeway though. I see it as your Guild gives you a quest, however your clan master gives you one as well basically overriding your guild teacher quest because your guild teacher would rather see more of his potential students in a Faction than to see some of his lesser jobs being finished.
The Quest system is not that easy.
I doubt anyone can get from 30 to 50 in 2 hours, from doing quests.
Sure you might get two easy quests in a row but there will come a time when it will give a realy hard one that you will be stuck with. Or that gets you killed.
Doing quests has made me lose 1 con point. Sure it was mage class and it was sub 30. But never the less, Quests sometimes can kill you.
And i do not see why you guys are doing HArd quests ? I do mutch better with medium ones.
I guess I'm just "mutch" more fond of the leet experience that comes with hard quests.

Because if you're a melee-capable class, the hard ones become really easy. Killing one mob for 5k exp? Hell yes I'm going to do it.

Chuckle... With a halfling ranger I beat two hours to pinnacle from 30. The hard quests arent hard if youre not good (alignment irritations) and you know what you're doing
You must have been quitting out or something...there isn't much of a chance you can get so many doable quests in a row...to get 20 ranks means you need to do at least 50 hard quests (more because half rang has a high exp pen)...that means on average it took you about two minutes to get to the mob(s), do the quest, and get back to the guildmaster...something I don't really believe is possible 50 times in a row...
But, I think you aren't the telling the truth
I don't doubt him. I know others that have done it too.
Do the math...even if the mob was right outside the guild hall and it took less than 20 seconds to kill it...just from the blood wait timer...it would still take at least that long...
Yes. I understand that it's a hefty task.
However, that doesn't change the fact that I know people that have done it at all.
As an invoker, the hard quests around 30 were almost all impossible to do; however, around 33 things started evening out and about 90-95 % of them were doable.
I doubt that you could do it in two hours though, although it can be done very quickly. Even assuming you weren't sidetracked by anything the entire time, and that you perfectly counted ticks to keep your moves up, you killed the mobs in less than a tick, etc. The wait to get into your guild would still make it take too long.
I dont see why not? I mean it averages out.
If each quest takes seven minutes, to get the last twenty ranks will take you just over three hours...
However ALOT of the quests that are slay quests are in the citadel or other easy/close to gain areas. Once you have done a few quests you have the keys to places and you dont have to stop for them again...
Secondly who here cant get from one side of the lands to the other in under a minute? The only delays would be for killing something in caraduin or anduin. Otherwise everything else can be reached in a small time.
I mean, I can remember having to kill the big janitor in the bathhouse atleast four times when ranking up... That was for 7000exp a kill. Took under 1 and a half minutes to finish that quest from val.
Anyone else get sent to Marak every other quest?
Anyone else get sent to Marak every other quest?
Yep. And even if that quest took you a minute and a half, Aulian, you still have to wait two more minutes to get into your guildhall.
I really can't see you ranking from 30 to 50 in two hours or less. That is, unless you are a healer. That is how I finished pinning Ecasio.
