New Mud Client

Can anyone suggest a new MUD client for me to use, which isn't gmud.

The main spec I want to have is to set up color triggers, so I can set it to show things like example, "You feel hot and fervish" in high lighted green.

Thats the main things I want, that would help me in pk soo much.

Any mud with the same similar things as gmud, aliases, macros, triggers.

Something basic to use, and easy to get the swing of.

Any suggestions?

Zmud works best for me. Actually, all the Bulgarians I know who play here call it zmud instead of FL

zMUD is the best. I use version 5.55.

What does a "great version of Zmud" mean?

Did it cook and wash the dishes for you?

Could tell you what rank anyone was.

Kept an active list for what spells were active/non active

Had pre-setup profiles for each class, to keep macros/triggers seperate

Had an awesome targetting system

More that I can't remember, was like my client on crack

Hell, get a client that can rank characters to 50 and you'll be making bank, Z.

MUSHclient is great. Takes a while to understand how to do more advanced stuff, but well worth it.

really, its so open ended you can code whatever you want. From inventory reorganization macros to pull data from the verbage used when you hit someone to estimate output per round.

anyone who uses zmud use the mapper? I've given serious thought to mapping FL to help me, lot of the stock areas I know from memory and playing muds for the last um, 12+ years, but the connectors and newer areas I don't know like the back of my hand yet and it has caused a death a time or two. Mapping reallyhelps prevent that and also reminds me of stuff like theres more than one way to get from dwarf town to hoan dor (which I can never seem to remember when running for my life). So does A) anyone use it anyone have it that would send it as a zip file or C) they're not illegal are they?

I played another mud before this one that had like um, 25,000 rooms and had it basically all memorized (like could run blind through about 500 rooms through twisty turny roads if needed) but everyone else used a mapper and it always peeved me off (mostly cuz you can make it open doors for you and such, and triggers in pk are illegal on that mud). So how do people feel about mappers in general?

tried one once, but found it near impossible because for some damn reason my brain mirrors reality.

On the map going west, was of course to the left on the cardinal compass...but in my brain its to the right.

Weird.

I also have found that people who know the area naturally always smoke people who run off a map. The prior not having to reference anything but their own brain.

lol, that's hysterical cuz my brain does the same thing. Ever since I've started playing Diku. You would be in the main town (oh um, whats the name of it, starts with an M...um...I keep wanting to say Miruhvor but that's not it...crap, it'll come to me), from the center you go s s and down was the sewers, e e s s to the river, then spam 10 e to get to the desert, nomad camp, etc, like 4 e and north was the dracolich that led to the drows, and just south of it was the myconoids and shaman (took me forever to find all that on this version!). but I always saw in my head as a visual my character running WEST (like toward hoan dor and never getting there) I never understood why. My friends who mudded made so much fun of me, and could never understand it cuz I was easily the best 'pker' in our group at school (well, one of 3, out of like 20 kids who mudded). And they always wondered how they kept getting beat by a guy who was directionally dyslexic . Back then I could type at like 90 wpm though, and it was when TinTin was the only client available, and it ate up so much CPU it would literally lag the entire university (Eastern Kentucky University) when we'd use it. So if we *did* use it the system admin would lock our accounts. Man, those were fun, good old days, rampaging on a 2.4 baud modem, on a green or orange ansi vt100 monitor Fun times

if you ask around a lot of people have the same issue with cardinal directions when they see something they have always done mentally translated into a map.
