yxlist
Ok, I'm playing my first character with fired weapons, so my question(s) is... What are some good ranged weapons (I've seen bone of bow of anduin, a dart gun, a heavy cross bow, an elven bow) and good ammo (I have no idea where to get ammo, the weapons I can sorta find asking someone to locate, or just scour the areas). Also, the nicest fired weapon I've found so far (elven bow or long bow or something) says I have no real good idea of how to use it when I equip it. My character is an elf, so its not a race thing. Any idea if its maybe my prof, or that I'm not pinn'ed yet (it is a lvl 50 bow, but I can request it). Gradrel said its prolly cuz i'm not pinn'ed. But i've used other requested eq's out of my level...so I dunno. anyway, that's what I wanna know. and to be frank (and i'm not, I'm kevin) I haven't searched fired weapons yet, i'm actually going to do it now cuz I hate when people ask questions and haven't even checked the search part of forum, but I just remembered too thanks! Iusedtobesomebody
sometimes ammo and fired weapons for rangers are set for your respective proficiency.
Questioner
Fired weapons don't usually work well for prepinns. Just the way it is.
Twinblades713
I've got the "you don't know how to use it" message with my pinned stonie warrior. I don't effing know how they work either. But they do help.

Questioner
It's like this. Can you use a staff very effectively if you don't master staff? No? Ok then. Now switch the word staff with whatever skill you want.

Now switch the word staff with whatever skill you want. I just know it threw me off. You could be wielding a staff at 14% proficiency and even though you'd use it terribly, you wouldn't get any "You don't know how to use this" message. I gathered it meant I wouldn't be able to even get better with it, but that was evidently wrong, so I just ignored the message.
Kazimer
I know it seems like a silly question, but if you are the class I think you are, you do have to practice it after you select it... check your proficiency... Also, as far as fired weapons, there are a bunch of ones, but they are scattered around, and there are a couple you can make even if you aren't a ranger... It definitely pays to explore, trust me... Their affects and attributes are extremely varied as well... It can be a very interesting twist as far as what works best in what situation...
