Sweet RP Ideas

I was sitting in my music history class today thinking about FL while taking notes on the development of the opera when I came up with what I think is a great rp idea based loosely on a character I used to play. It made me want to drop the character I am working with now and go with the new idea. I was just curious how often this has happened to the player base and what did you ditch to undertake the new project.

I seem to get to 40ish and then go, 'oh! I should make a such-and-such!', start the roller immediately and abandon a trained & geared character. couple that with my very limited playing time, and it's easy to see why I haven't had a 50 since returning. add in no groups to make it even more frustrating...

although, my current has kept my intrest so far.

25 myself. Don't go this way... It's better to have one character that shines' date=' that several that are dull.[/quote']

How can you play 25 pinns?

I dont want to hear ANY of you complaining about rare suits again. The reason certain people have good suits is they only play one char.

PFTTT.

All the time. I find that it gets frustrating because I know that to rp it out will only benefit me a fraction of the time, people will be interested in my rp, but then slowly get bored of it and just completely ignore it. Like Mudder said, you spend a lot of time in order to train a character to perfection so you can do what you envisioned him/her to become, only to fall prey to the jaws of inactivity, boredom, frustration, and down right bad player reactions.

A recent rp character I thought of was a warrior human who became enlightened by the One god, becoming a preacher for him as a templar knight (crusader) and joining Herald so that he may preach to the masses.

I find that I have trouble concentrating properly on more than even one 'main' character. When I get an idea and start up a new project, one of two things happens.

1) I get bored of it, and keep playing my main character.

2) I get so into the new character, I begin to neglect my previously main

character.

I generally have no more than 1-2 active characters at any one time.

It's also a large part of the reason why people often feel like there's a rare shortage... because tons of it just ends up languishing in the void on chars that don't get played anymore. Delete or at least get rid of your rares if you're going to start a new char!

Easy, you just keep getting incredible stupid ideas for Characters.

And then keep failing?

I don't know, I like to focus on one character at a time personally. I'm new here so alot of things are different than what I am used to. For instance, at my other MUD we were only allowed one character per account.

For me it's like this.

I have a character(1), he dies to secret skill. I go and make a character(2) that is not vulnerable to secret skill. Then comes flavor of the month combo and does umplesent skill, i get mad and create character(3) having in account to prevent what happened to character(1).

Then i see Divine_Intervention(4) in action, and think: "That is sweet, i bet i could PK like a ninja." I create character(4), and when i start PK, i notice the skill is not that good, and i get bored.

Someone creates a Lich, and i go and roll a character(5) human Necro, get him to 50 and proptly give up because necros are a pain.

Then i decide to try a Power Combo and do character(6) a Elf BMG, i promptly get raped. I decide to do save character(6) and learn how to play a BMG by rolling a character(7) Evil Human BMG. Sudently i am having more fun with this weak character(7) than i ever did with Power Combo character(6).

Then i have the briliant idea of testing is it is possible to PK with Zero rares. So i create character(8) Evil human Cleric. And i decide to do suicidal PK and sudently i start to have fun everytime i die.

Strangely the underpowered characters i decide to Create for RP reasons are always a lot more fun. For example Paladins, I really love to play them. But i get like a 1-10 kill-death ratio. When it comes to clerics, i have less fun but i can get like a 2-1 or better ratio.

About the rares thing. I personally never rare deck my characters. I dress in non rares with a few 2-3 common rares. And i do well with it. I understand that i limits a characters power, but with so many character, i am not spending 20 hours getting uber gear to let it slide into oblivion.

My rule of thumb is, if i cannot get it alone i do not bother with it. Weapons excluded.
