KRins
I agree that Silva is probably one of, if not the, sickest fighters in the game right now...but I lost so much respect for him after that showboating fiasco. Show the slightest bit of respect for your opponent as a person and fight him for real. He hasn't been training for weeks to be made the butt end of a joke. Totally classless in my opinion... Iconz
Twinblades is right... and just to add to what Twinblades said... Silva already had a long list of MMA fights... and i think at the time the middleweight division in the UFC was really hurtin at the time (it still kinda is... but IMO part of that is b/c some guys would rather move up or down to avoid the Spider hahaha).. but thats cuz after Bustamante went to Pride... there wasnt really a champion or much of a middleweight division in the UFC until UFC 51. Back to Spider... (I mean COME ON! DQ really?!?! Damn... id give him a prize for pulling off such a spider-like KO.. ..) Silva (4 straight finished matches before he got the shot at Franklin)... I guess what im sayin is that there are dudes that deserve their title shots and they usually meet a criteria... they had a history of winning matches (usually finishing matches)... and are usually on a winning streak when they get their title shot... though that streak doesnt have to be in the UFC. Silva does have a history of showboatin though hahaha... i guess its the entertainment part of the business... but you better damn well win the fight... i think dude might just be bored right now (talkin about wanting to box? Talkin about retirement?)... but that means hes gunna get caught by some random unknown and its gunna shake things up in the MMA world... or he's gunna move up to 205 and take Forests belt too... or down to take GSPs belt... __________________ Iconz - Prolly my fav Silva knockout... EyeSeeU
If he is bored then he should move up in weight. And no matter what especially in MMA there should never be showboating. It holds no place in prize fighting. Because most of the backgrounds(fighting styles) in MMA would never allow you to showboat in the first place. HouselessRogue
Not a shot at you Iconz as I saw that you don't always agree but Sherdog is right usually on the top 3. That particular list is good on 1 and 2. Tim Sylvia is not in the top 5 HW. No way, no how. Arlovski is twice the fighter that Sylvia is... he just happens to have a glass jaw. *shrug* Sucks for him. Fedor is the man. Antonio is right behind him but can't seem to get a win vs. the Last Emperor, but still - EVEN Fedor never stopped him. Obviously Lesnar really needs to work on his MMA skills BUT he needs to fight towards his overall strengths. His wrestling and strength are it. He reminds me of Matt Hughes coming in green as a pure wrestler and doing well. He is ridiculously athletic and his power is, well, Fire giantish. IF and only IF he keeps his ego in check and controls the fights on his terms, he will do well. If he goes outside that and tries for flashy KOs or SUBs he will get handled by someone with more skill. I equate this to Matt Hughes. You may disagree but when Hughes was wrestling and controlling the ground and pound he was nigh unstoppable. He started to falter when he thought he could out strike everyone. Crap the same thing happened to Randy C. against the Iceman. He had a lot of luck riding with him on his TKO of Chuck. The next two fights the Iceman proved who was the better striker. IMHO, had Randy stuck to his control, wrestling, dirty boxing, he would have beat Chuck again. It seemed like in his head he knew he could KO Chuck. That wasn't his strength and he paid for it. A good lesson for Brock. Lesnar got a title shot early but the HW division has been weak and he was already well known to all. That's why he got it. Can't fault him for it. Nogueria will beat Mir. Nogueria will submit Lesnar in short order. To much talent and Lesnar is too new to the MMA world. Lesnar and Mir both have a puncher's chance of course, but come on, the Vegas odds would not be pretty. Fedor has made comments that he will not fight in a cage. I wish he would come to the UFC but it doesn't look like it will happen. He is the best HW in the world hands down. He is sick, sick, sick. I miss the open weight tourneys from Pride. Anderson Silva v. Fedor Emelianenko anyone?
EyeSeeU
Well if he was supreme he would fight in a cage. Honestly his hinting to not going to fight in a cage is a cop out. Seriously though he needs to get over himself and fight in the cage as does any MMA fighter that won't fight in one. One more thing Brock has more then a punchers chance against anyone, it's called a wrestlers chance, a little can called I can pick you up and slam you and you can do nothing about it because I am stronger, bigger, taller, and almost as fast as you are. HouselessRogue
In my opinion Fedor's style would only be helped by a cage. He is definitely not he first fighter I have heard talk about not liking the cage nor will he be the the last. Eyeseeu, a puncher's chance is just a figure of speech. What I was saying is that no one is unbeatable in that sport and anyone can win. But, I would be shocked if Noguiera doesn't win easily against both upcoming opponents. Iconz
Who you guys got for UFC 92? Im goin w/ Rashad Evans... 3rd round KO.. if it goes the distance then i say Forrest got the edge cuz his conditionin is better. I say Mir vs Minotauro goes the distance... w/ Minotauro winning by split decision. Wanderlei vs Rampage... i think Rampage finally settles the score and TKOs the axe murderer... __________________ Iconz - Will be watchin the festivities at a local sports bar
Guest emp_newb
Im going with Minotauro as well. But I think the Axe murderer is gonna rip him to tiny black pieces.
Twinblades713
Yeah, Going with Nog, Wanderlei, and Forrest. I'm not counting Rashad out in any way, but Rashad gets gassed badly, and Forrest can take punches. I like Forrest in that fight.
Guest emp_newb
anyone else like watching BJ RIP his face open for the belt? That was prolly the single bloodiest cut I have seen.
KRins
Nog unanimous decision, Rampage 2nd round TKO (he has so much to regain after losing the belt, the whole getting arrested and saved by Dana White thing. I think he does it big.), and while I'm pretty divided on Tyson v Rashad... I'm gonna give it to Tyson, split decision.
HouselessRogue
Congrats to Mir. I really didn't expect that but, hey, that's what makes this sport great. Wand needs to retire. He isn't 30% the fighter he used to be.
Iconz
This is why i love mma... who coulda seen that comin? Mir did what Sylvia.. CroCop...even Fedor couldnt do... finish Minotauro... man i hope Mir taps Lesnar again. I knew the Rampage fight would end violently... and thats whats up for my man Rashad... so whats next? Rampage vs Forrest 2? Rashad vs Lyoto Machida... battle of the undefeateds? Wanderlei goes down to 185??? __________________ Iconz - "Dont call it a comeback.. i been here for years..." KRins
Please please please Lyoto v Rashad. Also, please please please Rampage v Forrest 2. Wanderlei needs to retire...he's kinda killing he legacy with his last couple of performances....I was never a huge fan, but I had to admit for the longest time that he was dangerous. Not so much anymore.
HouselessRogue
Wanderlei needs to retire. Pride did reaction/speed tests on their fighters and he has slowed WAYYY down from when he first came to pride. He spent his best years in Vale Tudo and he was a BEAST in pride for years. Age is catching up and he has been knocked out a few times. Anyone that follows this stuff knows once you have been knocked out, it becomes easier to happen again. I love the guy. He was a brute. Straight ahead, swinging like mad. But he has neither the chin or speed to do what he has done in the past. Time to hang it up and train some folks. HBwillie
Ugh, I had Nog by unanimous decision, Wandy by 2nd rd KO, and Evans by 2nd rd KO. While I'm not a fan of Evans, there's no denying this cat's skills. I think they'll give Rampage the next title shot, as Machida already has a fight lined up with undefeated Thiago Silva. Poor Wandy and Nog...retirement in the near future I hope.
