Chayesh
Congrats to the Swedes, Finns, and Czechs. The gold medal game was amazing. First time in like 20 years or something that Russia gets no hockey medal. Canada finishes 5th and USA 6th....that's wild. My favorite quote: "I can get new teeth. It's not everyday you have a chance to win an Olympic gold medal." - Teemu Selanne, after taking an accidental stick in the mouth and losing 3 teeth against Team USA. WarriorCleric
I've got to say, outside of that one american speed skater, all of the people earning medals have been damn good sportsmen, atleast what I've seen. WC

Hegemon
Ugh, the flags are at half mast here in Canada. Canada Losing Olympic Ice Hockey is like....getting PK'd by Bally...
FatMike
I was about to say it's been a long time since Canada didn't at least medal in olympic hockey hasn't it?
Hegemon
Yeah, well it's sort of our thing. Last time, we took gold in the Woman's and Men's Ice Hockey, the time before that I believe it was either silver or gold in both, and I know i'm going to catch ten kinds of hell for not knowing, exactly. We actually did win the gold this year in the Woman's Ice Hockey, so it's not all bad.
FatMike
Our thing? I thought hockey started in Detroit, not toronto or montreal or whereever.
Hegemon
I dare you to walk to Canada and say it's not our thing. And I was pretty sure, but I just looked it up and we lost in 98' to the Americans. I remember that game...
Chayesh
Cammi Granato and company. Dig it. And hockey has a greater significance in Canada than baseball does in the US due to it being one of the main factors that unified the provinces back when they were all separate entities under different European crowns. A provincial governor started a tournament that literally had a role in forming the nation of Canada. His name...Lord Stanley. Sound familiar? Hegemon
Powerful in the Dark Side, Lord Stanley was. Edit: But the Summit Series was still our finest hour.
