Healer Reserection

And you had fun doing PALI POKES! it had nothing to do with having to res more people. I just can't see that as fun...

I had an incredible amount of fun jumping into the middle of cabal wars to res people and trying to evade the person who killed them and wanted them to stay that way.

P.S. And don't we hear a lot of people thinking that goods aren't as strong as evils? Well, give them greater longevity instead.

Join a Cabal. Train armies. Conquer the world.

Healers are ridiculously well equipped to take the field with their men.

With the new changes perhaps we should make the mystic healing decrease by 10 on a death instead of completely. This would give the healers some incentive to keep on trucking. It is very frustrating to lose 5 res gains to one death. Especially if that death was something really beyond your control i.e. bad gear trip, etc.

Yay. Army warfare. ::groan::

Healers weren't always punished for pk'ing anyone but undeads. If they had any sort of rp, it usually was allowable under virigoths original regime. It did change eventually, but at first... whew.

Also, healers could gate to anyone. It was hella-fun and interesting.

Over time, healers have been forced in to some serious restrictions and in the end... they've jointly played a role in maiming what was a pretty great class.

Healers are 2.0 bards now. Good for some, terrible for the rest. Let's run through a checklist of what reasonable rp will NOT allow.

---------->

(1) Killing any non-undead mobs.

(2) Killing any non-undead pc's. (Good luck keeping undeads in combat though.)

(3) Engaging in aggressive cabal actions.

(4) Pursuing an attacker beyond an area barrier.

----------<

What does that leave to do?

---------->

(1) Close your eyes while your groupmates throttle creatures, and blindly heal them. (come on, is this good rp?)

(2) Have some tea.

(3) Sit at Ramses and pray someone dies in a remote and dangerous place, spamming com locate corpse over and over again.

----------<

Shaman voodoos you with dysentary... shaman locates dung... 50 cabal mates swarm in?

Lol there are 10,000 ways around this.

A healer gating in and recalling is not exactly the same thing.

Healer gate would never fail, dysentry does all the time. Can by cured/avoided/controlled should it land.

You obviously never played one of the original healers... people could save against gate. It was very annoying on Pali to be trying to gate to someone to res their friend and have it fail over and over again.

And yes, people abusing it got an otherwise perfectly fine skill nerfed. If we could only make this game douchebag-proof, we could get rid of half our rules.

I may have wrecked a perfectly capable vampire by sticking it in Herald.. But there are some places even -I- wont go then or now.

Hrmm, my memory must be failing me. I could have sworn you used to be able to voodoo dysentery. Sigh. Old age.

I don't know, I had a 1.0 healer who was a member of chaos (yeah, I don't know how I pulled that off) and one whom was tattooed by Mircea and lead the savants. It was a nice time having adrenaline-rush-worthy stuff to do. In fact, I would put a wager down that my Chaos healer had more pks than Dumela, you druid loving healerbasher. =0)

Well, maybe not... but I do really miss the old healers and... the old psis!

OK, after reading all this I'm now really worried about bringing my new healer up to this world. I had a old healer back in the day. This is my first new one in years. 4 or 5 years. So I recall the days of gate to the character.

I RPed my healer into killing many evils if I saw them attacking anything that was good. I had no problem killing evil mobs. If it was evil it could die and not break my heart.

Crypt never had a problem with my RP of the healer. I did a lot of RP with Vigor and Crypt with my healer.

Guess I will see how the new healer makes it soon.

Hmmmmm... four or five years... Seems to me about that time healers were getting into DS(deep Sh$t) for doing such a thing... I haven't been back long, and I am pretty old and senile, but some things I do recall pretty clearly... Should be interesting to see how your healer does...

Thats the point. You will only find experienced players doing up Tribunal healers, if anything. For the most part, they are just a drag to play now. Personally, I think a resurrected player should have a massive blessing, not a calm... some kind of boon. Give people a reason to want to be resurrected, or give a healer another passive ability for coolness. They've been twice gimped with no major buffs.
