KRins
Texas beat OU, good point. Oklahoma lost before Texas (which is important regardless of how dumb it sounds.) and Oklahoma is THE hottest team in the country right now. Florida is obviously going as well, but if you want to talk about the momentum advantage this second it goes to OU (60+ in their last 5 games in the other elite conference in the country). Better conversation is the Heisman. Tebow ftw. I personally think it takes away from Bradford, Harrell, and McCoy's stats that they all lit it up so huge. In my mind it makes me think that 3 different kids doing extremely well (McCoy 70% completions? I couldn't do that in high school against air in a t-shirt and shorts.) kind of shines a bad light on the Big-12 defenses. I honestly do not believe that as a professional Tebow is better than any of the other 3 QBs in question...but he does it every single game against elite defenses, his performance last night being the clinching moment in my mind. My only other consideration is McCoy. 70% comp, led his team in rushing, beat Bradford, got let down by the defense against Harrell... Texas has 3 phases of the games... defense, special teams, and McCoy-fense. Bradford is obviously incredibly talented, but I honestly think the quality of his defense (How many possessions did they start in Mizzou territory last night?) and the number of weapons he has around him will also detract some voters. Let's not also forget that Heisman voting in the past has been a little regional. 3 kids from the Midwest will really divide the vote in that region. Tebow doesn't have that problem. HouselessRogue
I am really curious to see how Oklahoma can handle an SEC defense. Frankly, the Big12 defenses suck this year.
HouselessRogue
Texas won't play CW. They didn't get the nod for the Big 12 championship. Just won't happen for the national title. They are good team. They will make for a great opponent in another BCS bowl. I think it will be Florida v. Oklahoma. I just don't see any other option and they are in my mind the two hottest teams. Should be a slug fest.

EyeSeeU
The two teams that are there should be there. Florida beat Bama without one of their greatest offensive weapons and did it convincingly. OU is very talented however I expect Bradford to make more mistakes then usual against Florida's very talented speedy defense. I do feel this game will be a lot closer then people will think and OU could possibly win. I do expect Tim "WARMACHINE" Tebow to carry his team on his back once again and pull through. As for talent at the QB position Tebow is physically and mentally more talented then the other 3 "Colt/Harrell/Bradford." However with that said I do feel like if Bradford and OU both play well and loose anyways in a close game, Bradford should steal the heisman away from Tebow. KRins
I have absolutely no clue how you consider Tebow a more physically and mentally talented QB. His delivery take slightly more time then a large pizza from pizza hut, he's accuracy down the field reminds me a lot of... revolutionary war muskets. Did you see the Ole Miss game? Tebow folded like deuce-seven offsuit. He needs more time to develop some poise. Even when he is doing well he gets too hyped up. Too much emotion = mistakes in the pro game. Outside of his rushing ability, he doesn't do anything better than any of the other quarterbacks. Right now, his success is a product of Urban Meyer's version of the spread and the talent around him. He is not a first day draft pick as a QB...even as an H-back I wouldn't take him in the first round. Colt McCoy is going back to school which I am in favor of, I question his pocket presence sometimes. Harrell gets to throw the ball 60 times a game which inflates his stats a little, even though he is a very talented player. Sam Bradford is a projected top 5 pick... I think it is a little beat the actual best player in the country isn't catch an NYC invite. Michael Crabtree is a one-of-a-kind player. Sharp routes, strength to break tackles, speed (maybe not Percy Harvin speed, but enough to do some things), and most importantly a high football IQ. Watch the Texas Tech/Texas game again if you have it TiVoed. He always finds the window in the coverage, and he makes himself available when the QB is in trouble. EyeSeeU
Receivers don't really win the Heisman though. "historically" Not that I think he shouldn't win it. I think he is the best "all around" receiver to come out of college since Larry Fitzgerald. The Heisman Trophy is given at the end of each season to the best college football player. It is hands down the most famous college football award. 41 of the Heisman winners have been running backs. 25 have been quarterbacks and one was listed as both. Only 5 Heisman Trophy winners were non running backs or quarterbacks. All 5 played End or Wide Receiver, including Charles Woodson who won the Heisman primarily as a defensive back. inscribed
re: krins sounds like somebody doesn't watch football! you bring up tebow's performance in the gators only losing game, and try to counter his performance with bradford's ability to make decent plays against crap defenses. and did you seriously insult tebow's down field accuracy? what games have you been watching? i don't even know where to begin. bradford is going to get embarrassed when he goes up against an SEC defense and crumples. Djriacen
Hm, yeah. I think the boom of the Big 12's offense came -not solely- from bad defense in the conference. I mean sure, they make amazing plays, but I don't think Bradford has what it takes to handle the SEC defense. Regardless, it will be decent game. KRins
Ummm...Considering I've watched every Gator game this season including several in person, I'm not entirely sure which games you've been watching. Give me any evidence that Tebow is a better passer than any of the 3 big 12 QBs and I will personally drive to your location and bring you a 12 pack of your choice. I am not trying to counter Tebow's ability with Bradford at all considering they don't have a common opponent. I am just saying I have not seen Bradford, Harrell, or McCoy crumble like Tebow did against Ole Miss (I was there, I watched it happen.) I will go so far as to say that McCoy, while a might jumpy in the pocket from time to time, is the mentally toughest of the four in question. Is Tebow amazing? Hell yeah. Is he a product of a spread offense the likes of which does not appear in the pros currently? Entirely possible. You can't even call me a homer...I personally despise both Texas and OU. I'm a Hokie fan! Regarding the Heisman. I really think that the fact that a WR does not touch the ball without a QB getting it to him (with the exception of direct snaps, which with the Wildcat exploding everywhere is no longer a trick play...makes me kinda sad, it just isn't surprising anymore.) that has prevented a lot of extremely talented WRs from winning the Heisman. I am almost willing to say that several QBs have won the Heisman while they were the 2nd best player on their team. I'm thinking of Chris Weinke right now specifically...but I am sure I can think of more after lunch.
HouselessRogue
I am in an SEC man through and through. I have lived in Arkansas most of my life and most of my family either lives here or Florida. I am a gator fan. Always have been. The SEC is the best conference year in year out. Don't bother arguing. IF you disagree.. fine, but you are wrong. Tebow is a great player but he is a hybrid player. His passes often look very sloppy but he certainly gets it done. I really don't know how he will do at the next level. Honestly, I am leaning towards not well. Bradford is the best old school pocket passer I have seen in a LONG time. I am very curious how he can handle the speed of Florida and I do expect him to make some mistakes when everyone runs around at 4.4 or sub 4.4 but I don't see how you can call Tebow a better QB. To me, they are apples and oranges. I can't wait for Alabama to dismantle Utah. I hate crap schools that play nobody running around with big heads. The SEC won't let it happen. The SEC will show Utah what big time football is, unlike another conference.. who was that? Oh, yeah Oklahoma and the Big12. Sheesh. Boise State. Ridiculous. KRins
I see Tebow being successful in the NFL, but not as a QB. Tim Tebow, meet Chris Cooley. H-back. I really puts him in a proper position. A hybrid role just like Houseless pointed out. Obviously with the popularity of the Wildcat offense, Tebow will most likely get a chance to continue passing from time. I'll go so far as to say that Antwan Randle El + Chris Cooley = Tim Tebow. HouselessRogue
That's a good point Krins. Running QBs historically don't do well in the NFL unless they switch positions. Michael Vick is the only exception I can think of right off hand.

Questioner
Definately Gators. I can hardly think of any other team that is as versatile as their defense and offense.
