What's Going On?

years ago not sure if it has happened since. Crypt did a MUD programing school, I was in said school, and worked on some projects that in the end were not put into FL in the end, but that is ok. I thought it was a good idea. Perhaps this could be done again. Let those that are really intersted work on the test port and see if they stay interested.

I will tell you three things that rule out most people and none of them have anything to do with experience.

1) Trust - if we can't trust you, we can't hire you

2) OOC contacts - self explanatory

3) Activity - Many people linger for a few months, then disappear for a few, rinse and repeat.

Having been on staff, and creating an area, and currently still on the web site as an imm(which I hope changes soon), I would have to say trust is the key issue... We are all ambiguous and anonymous when it comes to being a part of this community... There is a great deal of trust that has to be exctended when it comes to inviting new staff and builders... Personally, I like the builder training idea, but I didn't participate in the first class, though I have had the chance to build on the test site and actually have an area implemented, I can understand where it is difficult for the staff to entrust players enough to make them a part of the team...

I think the best step is to propose ideas/areas that can be implemented and show that you are willing to put in the effort to make them work... And then give the staff time to assimilate those ideas... Change is difficult for anyone, and the MUD is no exception... But it is neccessary... Lest we disappear into the sunset...

But, I am an old fart with old ideas...
