I can put Races and Classes (and whatever else) on the top bar. Just wondering why you think it's necessary, Mali.

I think the less clutter on the site the better. If someone goes "hm, I wonder what races they have", it's but a click away. But, if you have a legit reason, I'll entertain it.

Also, just out of curiosity, what does artwork have to do with a MUD?

As a viewer I wouldn't think to look under help resources for the races and classes. The first thing I want to see about a mud is what I can be in the fantasy world. Thats why I would like to see it on the top bar. This could be done with less clutter by renaming help resources to player resources.

As far as artwork, we have some pretty awesome stuff coming from the playerbase that should be showcased on the site, specifically icors work. Seeing his drawings of players and themes is inspiring to me and I think it would be to new players as well.

I agree on the art, but I would rather not have a "Player Artwork" tab. Rather, Icor willing, I'd rather have a mention on the site that the art was created by Icor specifically. Otherwise the site becomes a collective scrap book of player miscellaney. I'd be very happy to have him contribute images of races, classes, deities and whatever else.

I view the FL homepage more as an advertisement for players who are not familiar with what a MUD is, or those shopping around for other MUDs. As such, having a "Player Resources" tab is misleading. If I don't yet play FL, I'm not a player. But I would like to view the Help Resources.

The first thing I look for in any MUD are signs of life, not races or classes. I want to see an up-to-date site, I want to see a clear connect link, and I want to see an active forum. All MUDs have mostly the same races or classes with minor variations. The story and the community are the draw.

Well Pracyntict, when everything is ready, I believe Zhokril has been in contact with you about the transfer of the files. We will be hosting the website on one of our servers. We would love to keep you as a webmaster if you would be interested.

We want to host the website on our own server in the case that other matters claim your attention - as has been the case with Lunicant and his hosting of these forums - that we have no issues with being able to fully manage and administer to the website. Let us know when it is possible, and we should be able to launch.

Thank you once again.

Just so everyone knows, I normally dislike novels with illustrations in them. FL inspires me to draw and write, but I'm kind of put off by the idea of defining anything to "absolution". What I'm trying to say is that it is easy to ruin certain elements of a game that relies on the mystique of pure imagination. Artwork could water down the potential variety of different Sliths people could make, for example.

Granted, images are attractive to new players, but they won't be the thing keeping them in the game; ultimately, they might be kind of destructive to someone's creativity when they're writing their description for their new Halfling Watcher Blademaster.

I'm considering declining the task of making race/class images and sticking to exact character sketches. Exact character sketches are a little less bad when it comes to the world of words, and will probably be more interesting to look at.

Yeah, I like the individual drawings better. So people can idealize what they want to make so that it could be as vivid, but still their own. If you draw an ogre, that's likely going to be stuck in someone's mind of an ogre, whereas if you draw a certain ogre (attention to detail, according to a description such as the Valadar/Anume pictures), maybe even title it. Makes the ambience more "real" without hindering players' creativity.

My problem is consistancy. How many of you have had a fire giant walking around and run into another one, except the other one is a giant, walking fire and wants to be all "hey, man, Math at Fire Giant Senior High was a right bitch, eh? So, wanna go get some grub?" and you're all like, "wtf is this guy thinking? Hell, man, I'm a walking tall guy and I know I'm a fire giant, I've met many like me, and this walking flamer thinks he's one of us? How do I RP this?.... RP: uh... you have fire on your head....I dunno, I got nothing."

I just want a vague base of what each race is, with some hard rules. Are gnomes short and scrawny, or short and fat, or... maybe they are just like really tiny humans? Are you saying that, if I wanted, I could play my gnome as a 4 foot 12 inch man made of Graphical User Interfaces and free software cds if I wanted? Actually... I've got an idea now...

I know, good Ol' Z responded to my emailed idea on the matter. But it seems a lot of players don't like the idea, and I was just trying to ease them into with with me yelling about it a lot. I'm trying to help! Don't you see?! I have people skills! I'm Important! People skills, dammit! What's wrong with you people?! To hell with this, I've got this idea to make a cool million dollars...

Are you kidding? Anytime I read a Giant's desc (fire/stone/storm) I wished this existed. Or an Avian that isn't a humanoid at all, more like an eagle. I say it's awesome!
