Changes Woot wOOt!

Recommended Posts

Factions = Clans that are not cabal feeders.

It allows us to have players in cabal feeders and another player created clan. Therefore, you can still participate in your cabal's clan activities while being in an RP clan - say Zealot, KBS, or Protectors.

Furthermore, if there were ever a Dreadlord type event, where players of different cabals united for a larger cause, it would allow them to have that secondary clan channel through which to communicate.

Clearer now crackwilly?

Feeder clans are the same as they've always been. Hourglass, Hope, Cartel, Sacred Oak, Militia, Despair, and Battle. The only one that has been changed is the Academy which, to my understanding, has been granted status of "Faction" but can be used like a "Feeder" as well (correct me if I'm wrong here). That way, a player who has other aspirations as far as Cabals go, but still wants to be a teacher for the Academy or something, will now have access to both.

So what exactly is required to start a faction clan? That was not too clear at all. I have recently started to get some RP going that could potentially explode out. And this clan would be perfect for it indeed.

C'mon people! RTFM!

For those of you who are too lazy to type "help clan":

DUAL CLAN SYSTEM
The Immortals of Forsaken Lands offer clan related commands to help those
player run clans, that have established and proven themselves in their
ability to operate without help.

Clans are broken down into two categories:

- Feeder Clans
- Factions

The Feeder Clans serve the purpose of preparing individuals to join cabals.
Faction Clans serve whatever purpose their creators have intended for them.
Each character is allowed to be in one feeder clan and one faction at the
same time. The Academy has been given special recognition. If you are already
in a feeder clan, you may still join the academy as a faction.

The following requirements have to be fulfilled in order for the clan
to gain "official" status and the commands below.
- The clan must have operated by itself for some time
- The leader must have sent an application to immortals and been approved.

Clan/Faction commands:
Syntax: clan/faction draft :drafts the person into the clan
clan/faction remove :removes the person from the clan
clan/faction promote :promotes a clan member
clan/faction demote :demotes a clan member
clan/faction :sort and list members (only top 16 are shown)

Notes/applications/changes to clan may be addressed using its name.
To use clantalk use "cc"
To use factiontalk use "cs"

Clan ranks are: (I)nductee, (M)ember, (V)eteran, (T)rusted, (E)lder, (L)eader
Faction ranks are: (M)ember, (E)lder, (L)eader

And in case you can't see too well, I put the stuff you've both requested in italics and bold font.

There was a slight miscommunication in the change announcement. Ironarm will work only when wielding two weapons (dual wielding) - not with a two handed weapon. This is in concert with the helpfile. It used to be the case that people could cast the spell while wielding two weapons, then switch over to a polearm and still gain the ironarm perks.

I will also try to clarify the clan/faction system a bit. Every player can now be a member of two organizations (not including cabal). One of them is referred to as their clan - this is a feeder group for joining a cabal. The other is referred to for the sake of differentiation as their faction - this is a group that is NOT a feeder group for joining a cabal (basically what you would get when you applied for a custom clan before).

The change was implemented so that players could take part in both clan/cabal warfare dynamics AND be involved as a leader or member of a player created group (faction).

Academy can be joined either as a clan OR as a faction. If you join it as your clan, it functions as your feeder group. If you join it as a faction, it does not (ie if Academy is your faction, you are not in the running to be a Herald, you are just a member of Academy). The exception for Academy was engineered this way since it was commonly pointed out that people would like to be able to help/answer questions as a member of academy without sacrificing their clan/cabal opportunities.
