Solo leveling

I'd love to see it more practical to lvl on your own, seeing as the community is so small i can no longer find a party till lvl 25-30.

Try solo level with necromancer from 1 to 30 lvl and then say that again.

I feel the same, it might also help with a balance between good and evil. Seeing as back a few weeks ago when there were only what seemed to be 7 goods around you couldn't level anything hardly due to lack of group mates and being hunted by the 10 evils in your range.

...the point is its impractical, regardless of class...MOST classes don't get key skills untill lvl 30 or later in some cases.

I believe I mentioned this some time ago, perhaps on the unofficial forum.

I think it would be neat to see the experience gained for leveling without a group be higher than that gained WITH a group. Not to say that I want group leveling to be penalized, since that is one of the primary ways people develop character relationships. Some of the best IG friendships I've had have been with people who I ranked with from 1 to 50.

At any rate, giving an experience bonus to people who rank solo, or perhaps even a perk that would reverse things (by choice) so that you get less exp in a group and more as a solo fighter would make things interesting.

Sure make warriors, rangers, paladins and others rank quickly alone, let others sucks.

either way SOMETHING would be nice, there are so many people camping at 30 and 50, that you rarely ever seen new characters.

...

Non-ogre warriors would have a harder time with this than, say, a cleric, a blademaster, a battlemage, an invoker, a monk, or a necromancer.

And what I suggested would not alter the current ranking system for anyone other than those who chose it, so it's not like you're gimping anyone.

Do you realize the difference between solo playing games and multi playing games? IF so understand it.

That is such a close-minded thing to say.

I met a paladin recently who won't rank with anyone else, not because they're an uptight elven *******, but because they're afraid that someone will get hurt and it will be their fault.

That's not playing frigging Solitaire, that's called quality RP.

I am close mind, you are not, make invoker/necromancer with and tank from 1 to 30 lvl then speak that again. I shall not say any more words until you do this.

do you realize that some classes are NEEDED to group to rank? Do you realize that some classes can rank VERY hard alone and that is where rp comes and multiplaying too?

Venom i don't mean to be rude, but your hardly contributing to this conversation. Please refrain from posting if you cannot post something the community can gain from.

Honestly man does that post serve a point? Yeah congratulations you did it, but does that mean it should be as hard in the future or should we look at the problem and find a solution? Instead of taking your view and waiting for the entire playerbase to have to solo a necro to 30 because of no group how about we decide on a solution now?

No, going solo should NOT give more experiance as a group. I agree yes we can increase the amount given, perhaps make it the same as a 3 man group or just a bit less. The purpose of joining up in a party is 1) you kill the creatures faster so a group would still have major benefits and 2) you meet people work your rp in and learn about the people. But how many times have you been in a group that's only statements were "Hunt together?" "Follow me?" "I'm going to my guild." "I need to leave."?

If that idea was shot down then how about this, though harder to code: have certain areas to hunt in..Heck I'll build them myself and show them to the IMMs if you want a bit of work saved from you. Still, have these areas that you gain more experience in solo hunting. If a group goes there they get less, this will mean there's places for you to go if you want to solo and also groups won't be killing all the creatures before you can smack one down.

Now please, if you reply to this with criticism have a better idea or a valid comment.

EDIT: By the way if someone has it in their head to make weaker creatures in the area that's a big negative there. If I made creatures easily soloable by say necros or clerics then a ranger, warrior, blademaster...any class that gets a power peak earlier will sprint in levels.

the problem with this is, we no longer have a large enough fan base to sustain groups. You used to be able to log on and always have a party from 1-50. Now its very very rare to find a party before 30. I absolutely agree with you on why parties exist, however, we just don't have the playerbase anymore to keep playing that way. We need to find some way to mend the current lack of players so what we can keep what we have and push to get more players.

So..do you do your part? Yes we all care about this mud and we play it but why were we number 32 just a bit ago? 18 votes? Although we all play here not many give back to the community or mud itself unless their arm is twisted or a treat is held in front of them. This is a temporary solution to a problem that could become worse if we don't nip it, the community has shrank over time during certain obstacles the mud has hit. People give up to easily and make excuses without even trying to come up with a solution, petty arguements that don't mean anything cause people to get banned. Stubborn people who want to break rules and use the excuse "It's just a game." because they feel superior powergaming and using bugs to get cheap kills. I'd like to help out with this and I'll do anything but my major concern now isn't about levelling or groups it's for the mud's future.

all my characters, or like %90 of all that's ever been, spent 2 weeks or more just training. i always take a totally inordinate amount of time to even get 15-25. but then usually i can knock out pinnacle in no more than 3 sessions later.

Acccept that some classes need a group for ranking at low levels, others need groups for ranking in high levels. Few are classes that can go throw all the processs alone without much problems. There are some classes that CANNOT rank alone, see psionicist. So accept it or beat it. I don't know about 'I am doing it , Oh great' Or some other ones that are trying to make my words in other point. The true is true. Accept it or master meditation of blades.

let me put it more directly: i'll level an illthid barely ever seeing another pc for anything for 3 weeks and still okay with it. i'm a lame non-elite, i admit.

Heh, yeah, that was me. From 1-37 without ever grouping... was solidly on my way to 50, then the mud died for a bit, and I decided to let my mudding career die with it for a while again.
