Actually its a psychological thing' date=' I make less mistakes when I am in mithril and/or really bad gear as opposed to cream of the crop gear. Your mind sets in harping on the thought of you losing all of your shinies and you cant focus on the battle, but if youre in mithril you dont think on it because hey all the golems are in one square ripe for the picking.[/quote']

Its all about pressure imho.

When your decked there is pressure...

If you lose do you suck because you couldnt do it in awesome gear?

If you lose you will lose a lot of invested time!

If you lose you will be back to nothing.

The reward for winning isnt as good since you already have the gear.

When your not decked its the opposite...

If you lose you lose practically nothing

The reward for winning is HOURS saved equipping, Huge reward!

If you lose, hey you had crappy gear, you were supposed to lose!

If you win, well, arent you awesome, you killed someone while wearing mithril and teeth.

The reward for risk vs reward for winning a pk changes drastically when you get decked. It becomes ALL risk no reward.

Oh' date=' if only I had my log of my uncaballed ogre warrior in mithril with a power staff beating Arath (Syndi leader vampire) into the ground... I missed one bash and the bastard got away with his full Adeptus suit. ;)[/quote']

Pali,

I really really want to believe you. I don't know when that happened, what circumstances, but I cannot believe that if there was an uncaballed Ogre Warrior, vs a Vamp Syndi Leader that was decked out or any Caballed Vamp in decked out gear would stand a chance.

Ogre vs Valadar....

I cant PK in good equipment anyway, so it doesnt matter.. The best part after my 2 year learning curve is,, I can survive a bit.

Staff mastery/staff expertise/pugil/backcutter/bashlock.

With the vampire caught unsanced and without the proper spells up and/or with poor weapon choice (say, dual offensive weapons), definitely doable. In general though, it'd be hard as hell to catch someone in that sort of situation.

What is hard to belive ?

To suppress Quest class info, lets change the Vamp into a DK.

You are a Neutral Ogre Warrior, dressed in mithril with a staff mastery.

And you just caught some human DK dual wielding (or not)

He probably has protection, but it would not matter as you are neutral.

You are wielding a weapon he knows zero about. His parry is going out of the Window. You know all of his weapons and you are using the most defensive weapon type on the game. It will be very difficult for him to hit you.

On other hand your staff is a vulnerability weapon, are pugiling for 7 possible attacks per round and you are an Ogre. This will translate to ungodly damage, even without extreme DAMroll equipment.

If you manage to achive a laglock (good chance due to size advantage), you stop his only advantage, his spells. Without his Fireballs or Plagues/Poisons he will not be able to match damage. He will also not have a Warlock to bash you and interrupt the lock.

You will eat his HP and he cannot do anything because he is lag locked.

I bet the Ogre will even win unsancted VS a Sancted Vampire.

This is all supposing you catch him by surprise.

If you manage to dirt him, preventing him from casting Sanctuary, and then bash him, he will even go down faster, because DK's don't have Blind fighting.

Better yet if you enlarge yourself prior to it.

But if you allow him to prepare, you will have opponent with Sanctuary, that probably recited a scroll of ??? and now has Armor/Shield/Stone/???? and is wielding a Magic Polearm.

You need also to think before you strike.

Back to Vampires.

For example i have seen a Santed Berserker dual wield Vulnerabilities Weapons and Laglock a Unsancted Vampire, only to die because the Vamp knew both weapons and was using a Polearm.
