Dizz
I have a gig lined up in 2 weeks to street perform. I will be contact juggling for tips. It's the first time doing this so I need some feedback. The event is a Mardi Gras style carnaval, I will be outside to help drum up excitement. This is what I have for a costume. I sewed the tunic and headband myself and need feedback about what to go with it. http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=2qlevet&s=5 http://tinypic.com/view.php?pic=1g3mmw&s=5 http://i44.tinypic.com/mn21d4.jpg Opinions/advice? Mudder
Dizz. Your kinda crazy but I like it. Opinions/advice: I don't have much of either. I think it looks fine and matches what that type of event would be in my mind. Though it all matters what the other performers will be dressed up like. Maybe some sort of belt around the outside? Evangelion
May I suggest some large, dangly earrings? Preferably as tacky as possible? If you could find some of those peacock feather earrings, that would be cool, as they go with the color scheme of your outfit. Also, Mudder's idea of a belt has some merit, but I'm envisioning more of a sash. Perhaps a bronze or silver cord, if you can find such a thing locally. Finally, some make-up. Nothing extravagant, but you need to look more like a street performer and less like a human being. Heavy on the blush and eyeshadow (blue?), and maybe some brown or dark red lipstick. Dizz
Heh, tacky I can do. I have some earrings leftover from the 80s that I can wear. I also have silver ear clips that I bought at the street fair that I want to wear. I don't think a sash or a belt would work, I think it would add a throw together look. As far as makeup goes, I was thinking of acrylic paint on my face, maybe blue and gold dots.
delfytheelfy
diz weather you go with the pants or skirt (both are acceptable) get a material that matches and color + a pastel green material and wrap them both as a low hanging belt. like wearing two belts that hang right on the hips. I think that will go nice with it.
a-guitarist
Dizz, I'd suggest nothing flashy or dangly. As, I think it would draw attention away from the ball and your hands. But, basing it in earth tones or urban tones for makeup and clothing (depending on your area) might be a good idea so that you, yourself, blend into the surroundings while the juggling is highlighted with the light shining off the ball. I'm not sure if it would get in the way of the skill/art, but rings that have some sort of gem might also bring attention to the hands/ball. Bracelets might draw attention further from the ball/hands and on to the wrists- I'm not sure if it would be far enough to detract from the performance. a-g

a-guitarist
I hear these kids, these days, talking about cowbells... maybe they'd spice it up and bring in a younger demographic? a-g

Mudder
Mudder' date=' are you going to hit up the medieval fair?[/quote'] I wasn't but I haven't done one of those things since I was a kid. When is it? I'm going to be in town tomorrow thursday/friday. EDIT: Yes, in town. Because I am currently living out of town as I prepare for departure to New Zealand at the end of Feb. They get in the way so much that I even take my wedding band off. Necklaces have the same annoyance for body rolls, but I could do gold paint instead there. I have opal earrings that would probably match it pretty well, they have INTENSE fire. Pyro, it looks pretty good with CJ, but fire poi is better. For myself, I just don't like getting burned and I like my hair without singeing.

Dizz
Here I am in the final draft. (I hope.) The only thing I left out was jewelry and lipstick. It's a little hard to see, but I have gold and blue dots down my nose and around my eyes.
