shaggyboiler
So I'm really trying to play this healer now. I'm at the point of deleting now though. Its impossible in my eyes to grow in this world without killing. Back in the day I played a similar healer where I never killed once choosing my path. No mobs no nothing unless they were already dead. IE undeads. But back then you could work with your spells and grow easily or you could do res. on those that died and gain in ranks. Today there just isn't that option. Not nearly enough online ever to do a resurection. So are healers just worthless in todays game?
Twinblades713
They're definitely not killers, imo. Sure you can hunt undead but I think they would be fun as you look and laugh at your opponents who are unable to kill you. Of course you need a certain finesse to stay alive to the real buff dudes, and like in CW, being able to return a standard alive. It's a different game, kind of like ninjas.'Assassinate' ninjas can act very different than other classes and melee ninjas. They can either be completely stealthy, or fight and never hope to win, only to get a full study and a surprise assassinate.
shaggyboiler
My biggest problem right now is its currently impossible to get to 50. Back in the day when I was up there I was hunted played alot with my abilites. I only died once or twice that I can recall. It was a fun cat and mouse game. appearing near them have them chase me then run more. Right now I just find it impossible to get to pinn without killing mobs which goes 100% against my RP. Twinblades713
Healers should be able to pinn very easily with gate. Just go medium quests, gate close and move like ten rooms to the dude you need to find... then gate back. I had that experience.
samag08
Find a group/another person and do not assist just heal them as they rank. At least you are possibly preventing a death that way.
Mudder
Just join Tribunal. You can then take a non-PK class and PK with it. You can even kill Goodies!
shaggyboiler
I tried the group thing, They didn't like it and let me go. Go figure. I've doen the medium quest at 700 a pop thats going to take a lot of time. Not sure on Tribunal. Not something I've ever thought about.
HouselessRogue
I know I picked up my last six ranks gating and doing quests with the occasional ress tossed in. If you don't know your way around and know lots of eq a healer is a great way to learn. You can't kill with them but you can learn a lot from fighting defensive battles. I consider my healer the turn in my learning curve.
Guest emp_newb
I tried the group thing, They didn't like it and let me go. Go figure. I've doen the medium quest at 700 a pop thats going to take a lot of time. Not sure on Tribunal. Not something I've ever thought about. I saw 3 healers on last night, rolled a lowbie JUST to see how quickly I could get ressed. This is what I saw. Healer #1 (lowbier healer) tells you 'Ask Pinned healer #1' Healer #2 (Pinned healer #1) tells you 'Ask Pinned healer #2' <~~~~ Had an RP reason for this I found out Healer #3 (Pinned healer #2) tells you 'Yes.' A brief spat of RP ensued, thank you much Pinned healers for the RP. So bottom line here is this folks. You want something bad enough to make a forum post about it, then when you get the chance to have it, you say no? I am sure there was a reason behind the lower ranked healers reply, but again it all returns to the fact that a thread was started regarding this very thing, the utter lack of ressurectionees, and when one is presented it is ignored. Mudder
If any of my chars die, I always ask for a resurrection. The chance to regain lost con is definitely reason enough for me.
Cephirus
A healer, not willing to kill anything eh, except undead... quite a predicament. I say man up and do the quests, in the time it takes you to level up from grouping, you should easily gain a rank from doing quests. I have timed it, and can do it without gate at about the same rate. As you get higher, the mediums will give you more. Relying on resurrecting people to level... sounds horribly boring, not that the rp is not fun, but man, I don't think I could do that just to wait until I hit my pinn that way. ladyoki
I enjoy playing healers. It gives me the chance to play a game of cat and mouse. Getting a healer to pinn can be bit of a pain and time consuming with just guild quest, spell training, and resurrection. But what can a healer really do? Unless they are cabaled. I hardly give up the chance to give resurrection, even drop out of my conversation or hunt to go do my healer duty. It only take seconds to gate, res, and gate back to what you were doing. I guess I'm just a nice person. . there are other ways to gain experiance, if you are caught rping by an immortal.

Pali was at 48 with a 300k xp hole when xp from resurrecting was implemented (I'm still proud of that having been off my recommendation), and within two days I was at 50 without killing a single mob. Granted, I got like 10k per resurrection and that's been lowered a bit, but...

Mudder
Honestly I prefer guild quests to hunting. At like lvl 40 the payoff is greater for the quests than actual ranking. Unless you have an awesome group.
WagesofSin
You know, you can group with people and simply dont attack. "Autoassist" toggles on and off whether you aid them in combat.

Then, that way you have a healer to explore with later and the time isn't wasted.
Pali
If you do shelve him, get rid of his rares first.
English lad
Its it is very boring. Delete coming' date=' I don't have the time to do just that these days.[/quote'] Roll up a human warrior - addict perk purity. Attack everything evil and explore the different herbs around to find cheap ways of getting yourself the essential spells. You can solo level pretty easy and its great practice for learning to run, plus you will get kills if your willing to stock up on those herbs and consumable. Storm warrior is only slightly harder to level. And you get the bonuses of being a giant.
English lad
I like humans for the quick ranking - quickish training + you don't get the mental vuln. Stormies are nice also, although if its just for a quick - get to 50 and have fun character, i'd still go with human. Oh and it makes consumables easier
Cephirus
I would also recommend if you are really adamant on foregoing that character to do as was suggested and just shelve the character, and make sure to get rid of any rares. Plus as also was mentioned, quests at 40 and up make leveling go really fast, you would be surprised. My suggestion is to maybe try a human paladin, a decent degree of healing, plus you can still play a good if that is your fancy, and they level up pretty quick. That or if you wanna play an evil, try a cleric.
