Pali
So I'm currently looking around for a new desktop (not laptop) computer. Primary use will be gaming (bet that's a shocker), and I'm looking for something that'll be in the <$950 (including monitor) price range. Anyone have any suggestions on where to look for one? I'm also fairly ignorant when it comes to hardware, so suggestions on type of video card I should be looking for and the like are also welcome. P.S. Before anyone suggests it, putting one together myself is not an option. I don't have the tools, the know-how, or the time/motivation to acquire either. inscribed
depending on what kind of gaming you're interested in, you're either going to need to increase your budget, or learn to put screws in holes and plugs in sockets. if you aren't that worried about playing most of the new or high end games, dell has always had the most bang for the buck, and the best customer service. shaggyboiler
I recently purchased a couple Dell PC's after finding some good deals. I got a Intel Dual core, 250 gig HD, 4 gigs of ram, and 22" dell monitor for $500. Figure the video card is terrible so spend another $200 or so on a ATI 4850 or Geforce 9800 GTX and you have a good rig for under $800 easy. Murat
u could shop ebay if u were brave(know exactly what ur doing) or tigerdirect.com and shop for parts that way.Right now they are having lots of deals to get nice stuff for alot cheaper than if u were to go to bestbuy. Pali
So far the best deal I've found comes off of cyberpowerpc.com... $920 for an intel duo 3.16ghz, 500gb hd, 4gb DDR2 memory, GeForce 9500 1gb video card, liquid cooling, 22" monitor, free shipping, lots of reviews with nearly all of them very high scoring. I'm going to keep looking today/tomorrow, but that deal dies at the end of tomorrow, so if I can't find better that's likely what I'll get. P.S. Tried looking around Dell.com... couldn't find anything comparable that wasn't a couple hundred more.
shaggyboiler
I just did a dell with 4 gigs ram, 250gig hd, no video other then onboard, 21.5" monitor and no OS for $
Pali
Thanks for the link in PM, but by the time I got that thing up to how I want it it'd be pretty much the same money spent, on more sites, over a longer period of time. If I'm not spending more cash, I'll take simple and quick anyday. Hell, I'll take simple and quick even if I'm spending more cash provided it's not a ridiculous amount. I like me some convenience. inscribed
i don't know about the site you mentioned, but with dell, it is worth purchasing a 2-3 year warranty. if nothing else, near the end of your warranty, you can 'break' your computer, send it into customer service, and get a new, updated computer for free. basically you spend a litte more now to get a free, up-to-date computer in a couple years. Pali
Cyberpowerpc's also a 3-year warranty.

Pali
Dell has some awesome deals honestly. Tried looking through Dell, didn't find anything better than the one I ended up settling on (and many actually were more expensive, especially with shipping added in to the cost). Regardless, I've already purchased a new comp, should be arriving in a week or so... everyone can stop giving advice now.
