So you want to be a monster?

I'm not sure I'd run longer if the goal was to bulk up, I'd just try running a lot harder for those two miles.

I'm no expert, I'm naturally slim, always have been. I've never worried about bulking up, too much work to get to a showing level of bulk for me, I just wanted to be healthy. When I was looking my best I was on the crew team, and we didn't do all that much more than I had done before, we just did it a hell of a lot harder.

The trick to awesome abs really isn't hard. I just takes dedication + patience. Running is good to lose weight, though it won't guarantee you abs and it isn't necessary.

Do 30 bicycle crunches(keep your feet off the floor, like leg lifts). 30 side crunches. 30 other side crunches. 30 crunches (keep your feet off the floor, like leg lifts). In the morning every day for a week.

If you feel up to it, next week do it in the morning and again in the afternoon. Then the next week, if your ready, do it 3 times a day. Morning, noon, and night. You WILL get abs. It only takes about a month or two if your not fat.

to lose fat limit carbs to about 1g/bodyweight. You need to clean up your diet as well. Stay away from carbs and fatting food. Your goal is to get a calorie defecit (burn more calories then you consume). Next you should focus on cardio excercises as well as weight lifting/circuit training. Last take supplements. Fat burner can help a bit but amino acids like BCAA, glutamine, arginine and supplements like caffeine can raise your metabolic rate thus you burn more calories.

And lastly remember, your goal is NOT to lose weight...but to LOSE bodyfat percentage. Abs show up around 5-7% for males and 9-11 for females.

Also eat 5-6 times a day. Breakfast, second breakfast, lunch, preworkout, postworkout, dinner, and late night snack.

I'm going with Killalou here, with a few added comments:

More attention to diet, less attention to cardio is good.

The more muscle mass you have, the higher your metabolism will be.

The more frequently you eat, the higher your metabolism will be.

The higher your metabolism is, the more you will burn off just by living.

There are no quick solutions.

Don't worry so much about abs, worry more about health (mind and body).
