Guest emp_newb
Hydra. I spent some timemudding on my book. Hydra seemed the most user friendly. I have heard Tin-tin was decent as well. You could also do a parallel to windows XP and use Mushclient

a-guitarist
Buy something that works for you. I find windows cumbersome and loathsome. I find Mac's expensive and "dumbed down". I find Linux just right. Should everyone use Linux? Nope. Most people should, where as most people use computers as a magic box to get their electronic emails from their children/grandchildren with their fandangled eyepods and Zooms and YourTubes and Tubgirls and whatnot. But, if you want something that "just works", and don't mind paying a ton- get a Mac. If you want something to game on/be a "power user" and stand on the trends instead of flow behind them, use half your system's resources booting up and opening internet explorer, go Windows. If you want to spend half the time pulling the hair out of your head and solving problems that you don't have to just to get by in gaming or 'new technology', go linux. Or, if you just want to check email and surf the web and write documents. Suggesting someone to buy a Window's box is not the brightest idea most of the time. I'm telling my family to buy Mac's these days. Why? Well... to put it as lightly as I can, they're dumb. The amount of time I spend clearing Malware/Adware off computers is insane. I never knew why WC got so pissed with them- until he left for Yellowland and I was left on 24/7 on call tech support. If I charged the hourly rate I'd be driving a new car and not behind on bills. And no matter what anyone says... a 17 year old girl on myspace can circumvent ANY safety protocols you've installed/modified/asked/prayed to god about without knowing she did it. A 13 year old boy will download so much porn he's bound to find some virus you can't protect against. And, while they may not know how to fix the problems they make, they know every little way to get around blocks and restrictions. And an Aunt or Uncle who doesn't "get the net thing." will click on every popup that claims they've been infected. And don't bother trying to explain Firefox/Noscript/AdBlockPlus ... that's beyond them. "Internet explorer has worked for me thus far..." "Yeah, until you brick it AGAIN and I'm over here for another hour or five trying to back up your crappy pictures (that you should have been doing ANYWAYS) before I reformat and load up again." "But, is reformatting always required?" "Well, No. But it's easier for me to spend an hour reformatting from now on than spending three hours fixing, researching and restoring." "Well, I'd like you to do that." "You can't afford that." "I'll pay you!" "I meant the verbal abuse you'd take." So, a Mac makes you happy and suits your needs? Go for it and download whatever Mali tells you. But I swear to god, I catch anyone of you on a Macbook with a goatee sipping a latte while talking about pre-colonial existentialism as your twirling your wannabe mustache, I will ****ing kill you. a-g
