Just a question on your targeting for combat. If I am currently engaged with opponent A, and opponent B is in the room, and I want him to be my target, can I switch targets in the middle of combat, and if so, how? I know I can flee and change that way, just wondered if maybe there was something I have been missing all these years.

currently not fighting?

If I am fighting like 7 treants, to target which one I want to fight I just type

kill 1.trea

kill 2.trea

kill 3.trea

kill 4.trea

If I'm fighting, and they don't agro I just throw spells, or dirt them to target me, then I just use the commands to target which ever one I want...

does that not work for you as well?

If you are fighting person A and person B at the same time, then you can focus your attacks on one or the other by typing "hit ".

If you are fighting person A and not person B, then you can only engage person B into combat through a targeting attack, such as dirt kick, trip/bash, a critical strike, or an offensive spell.

If you use a single target spell, you will automatically switch to melee with person B as well. If you use an area attack, you will continue aiming your melee at person A, but you will hit person B with your spell and draw them into combat, after which you can use the "hit" command to target them.
