ADDENDUM: ANY work done for the Forsaken Lands becomes the intellectual property of the Forsaken Lands. As such, we reserve the right to use or not use your work as -we- see fit. For all intents and purposes, you waive ownership of any work done by accepting a temporary builder position. You will be credited for the work. If you do not agree to such a clause - we thank you for your desire to help the Forsaken Lands grow, but your application will not be accepted.

This used to be common knowledge, but I feel that we must make it publicly known to avoid any mishaps.

I have one doubt about this.

Let's say Mr. Jones has a Great idea for an area.

Mr. Jones contacts FL Imms, and is granted access to test port and builds an amazing Area, ala "Elven Kingdom".

Mr. Jones is a neat person and logs everything.

Mr. Jones thinks he has created a work of art, and decides to release his personal area file in TMS, for the general public to use as stock area...

Mr. Jones releases his area as his own, but giving credit to FL.

Is this wrong ? Is this you wish to avoid ? Area Knowledge leaking.

I am not questioning the use FL gives to areas in their test port. It's theirs.

Just a question about area life outside the FL mud.

Before an Imm will grant a player the rights to build on the test port, they ensure the player understands all items created in the context of the test port belong to and become the property of The Forsaken Lands (collectively).

Additionally, the player who built the area would not have access to the tangible file, so they would have to recreate it out of memory anyway.

In my case, this didn't apply previously since I was a founder and copyright holder (still am) of the mud. Even now, if anyone wanted to release any of the FL areas that I created to the public, they would need my permission.
