a-guitarist
Well, it started with a "U" instead of "Y" "O" "U", and soon after came the "L" "O" "L" because if laughing's what you do, and none can see, and none can hear, of what your gut might say, then text upon a screen might be the only way. Which is fine, I guess, as though it takes time to type instead of say, "L" "O" "L" is half the letters of "HA" "HA" "HA" and twice as fun to say. But then it happened yet again, and "ARE" was not a word, but instead became a single letter, again read instead of heard. And then one day while chatting with a friend more than afar, (perhaps he lived in England, China, Russia or Dufar?) A line was crossed that bent my nerve, with a typical goodbye. It was "See you later", however perverted and codified. You see, the "See" was shortened to a letter, not "S" or "E" or "E", but instead the alphabetical letter numeral number three! And the "YOU" was the curse'ed one that started this whole plague, but it was the latter that crossed the line and filled me with a rage. Later wasn't later! There are no numbers inside words! But there it was. An 8 between the L and R, again read instead of heard. And in my fit of anger, screaming about what I had just seen, my telephone beside me began to bounce and ring. I picked it up to answer, but no voice greeted me. Instead a a blinking cursor on a tiny, little screen. I was in a state of disbelief, I was reading letters that stood for longer words... When did the telephone become a device that was read instead of heard? Then it landed, as if a bomb, destroying words I'd known, graded on while growing up, will English become unknown? "Posh," I thought, "it just isn't possible, that words I've spelled all my life could become a single letter and syllable." How wrong I was about this curse, it's spread across the land, A hateful, deadly pandemic that's not spread by mouth but hand.
