Ah, Sandbox. I'm entirely positive HouselessRogue was joking. Look at Emp Newbs forum "title." He is a F***ing asshat! ;)

And yes, Emp Newb was correct, however I disagree on the case of monks. I think monks are fairly decent newbie classes being that they are very easy to get the hang of and are very non-eq dependant.

Never played a Blademaster myself, but don't they have to take account of the direction of the wind?

Anyways, Blademasters are powerful but tough to play. But I think if you are deciding on whether to play a berserker or a blademaster and can't decide which one, then I'd recommend you play a blademaster. By general consensus, berserkers are a little on the weaker side. Though I still stand by my opinion that Rangers are the best melee starter class hands down.

Lets see,

They can: heal themselves, recover their health/mind really fast, number of attacks second to only the warrior, hit hard, dirt to blind, use a shield, use two weapons, shoot arrows, spell which can do unspeakable damage, have up to three strong pets, hide, lag, create their own food and can even make their own weapon!

CRAP!!!

How about:

Worst access to protection.

Worst access to sanctuary.

Lag that any class can avoid.

A spell that only works when it rains...

Can blind the same as any other Meele class.

Can't create water.

Worst access to Word of Recall.

Camp and wake up worse than they went to sleep.

Number of attacks equal to any other Meele class.

:P Crap!!! :P

I also disagree with monks, they are not that bad for newbies.

Now Blademasters... you need to have a dictionary to translate their skill/spell names to common FL language.

DONT LEARN TO PLAY THE GAME WITH STRONG COMBOS DAMNIT!

YOu really want to learn, make a neutral ogre zerker for warmaster. Forget classes that can hide and heal, those are bonuses. Play something that has room for error, and can also seriously punish people. You have to learn how to equip, or your naked. You have to learn how to prep, or your dead. You have nice bonuses, and are also very effective killer. Learning to pk without power combos is far more important than learning to pk with them. You learn on a power combo, you will most likely suffer and fail with non power (or even non rangers)

Newbie class doesn't mean power combo. It means survivable. Rangers are great because they can create food, weapon, AND a torch(How many times as a newbie were you lost in the dark? It happened to me a lot.)

They have pets which make equipping easier. They get TAME, which will save an exploring newbie a lot. They can also teach the new player the basic elements of PK a lot better than a Cleric or Paladin would. (In my opinion.)

A monk will also teach a newer player the finer elements of PK without forcing them to get access to tons of good gear/weapons. I know I learned a lot on my monk.

However I will add I learned the most about PK by playing my Vampire. I think everyone should try and make one. WARNING: Fast connection required.
