inscribed
if everyone carried a gun with them at all times, i think we'd see a sharp rise in the manners and respectfulness of the general populace.
Pali
It is far to say the majority of criminals do not fully think things through. Otherwise they wouldn't be criminals. Obviously. You have an incredibly oversimplified view of why people may commit crimes, my friend. Hell, I'm a criminal... I purchase and partake of illegal substances on a daily basis, and you can bet that I think it through every time. Choosing to break the law does not necessarily mean that you're an idiot, that you're short-sighted, or that you do not plan things out. In general, people don't decide to go hold up a store on a whim... they have their reasons, and they've planned it out.
Questioner
How bout this. For all those who break the law, why should I and any other person who abides by the law and upholds it allow you to be protected by those same laws. It makes no sense that a criminal who has complete disregard for laws will be given sanction by those same laws. My 2 cents.
Celerity
How bout this. For all those who break the law, why should I and any other person who abides by the law and upholds it allow you to be protected by those same laws. It makes no sense that a criminal who has complete disregard for laws will be given sanction by those same laws. My 2 cents. Why? Because completely disregarding the law to punish those whom you see fit is not lawful behavior? Because you'd rather uphold the law then go for the petty vengence? Because you hold to that lawful ethos rather than sinking into neutral evil? :D An eye for an eye leaves everyone blind... The law protects me but not youuuu! I am the first among equals! The law wouldn't be very effective if it only applied to people who 'uphold' laws.

In general, people don't decide to go hold up a store on a whim... they have their reasons, and they've planned it out.[/quote'] Perhaps I should spell this out. They think about it, however not with any sort of proper thought process. Not one that I, or even you, would consider properly thought out. I know of the vast reasons people lead a life of crime. Do I agree with their reasons? No. None of them "really" make sense. The difference is that it makes sense to them enough to rob someone. However that has to do with their education and social background.

Pali
How bout this. For all those who break the law, why should I and any other person who abides by the law and upholds it allow you to be protected by those same laws. It makes no sense that a criminal who has complete disregard for laws will be given sanction by those same laws. My 2 cents. First, being willing to break one law does not mean one has no regard for any laws whatsoever - I am against our current drug and marriage laws, but I am very much in favor of and support strongly our laws regarding theft, murder, rape, child abuse, etc. Second, the entire reason that criminals are still protected under the law is to protect them against government and mobs that are acting either in the wrong or emotionally. Political imprisonment isn't something that happens much these days in the United States, but people DO still get convicted of crimes that they have not committed (whether by mistake/incompetence, overzealous behavior on the prosecution's part, or set-up), and both situations are things that we need to guard against - if we accidentally convict someone of murder when they didn't kill anyone, I don't want to risk them being tortured for it. And mobs have a tendency to throw away due process and just go for lynching. Are you seriously in favor of this kind of behavior? Pali man' date=' don't post your full name and then talk about being a criminal. Gotto keep it on the DL![/quote'] *smirks* I'm not exactly worried about some internet post that would likely be thrown out under hearsay rules anyways being used as evidence against me, especially when all I've ever said is that I smoke weed (which, frankly, cops in Madison do not care about... hell, I've told a few personally that I do). Pali
Neither is this. Pali. Are you like 14? ...what is it with people posting pictures that they claim are me? First the super-fat slob, now the idiot children. Do I really captivate you so much that you absolutely must have some mental image of me?
Mudder
Do I really captivate you so much that you absolutely must have some mental image of me? Yes! And oddly enough, I saw that picture of the fat guy on TV about a month ago. I don't remember under what context though. And that kid image I got was what I received when I googled your name. Hehe. Pali
Well, none of those kids are me. One must've decided to copy my good name. Just decided to Google myself as well... none of the links that pop up are to me at all.
