Shouldn't ninjas, masters of stealth, etc be able to hide in forests too?
I understand the potential nightmare of having a one-shot killer be able to hide everywhere except water so I propose this as a replacement of the doublesheath ninjitsu skill and give that skill to the class as a lvl 50 skill.
This is only camo, so any movement would make the ninja come out of camo even if sneaking.
In my opinion, this rounds out the ninjitsu skill set much more and gives them a lvl 50 skill (doublesheath) they should have (if you think of ninjas of antiquity).
Currently, they're blinding dust is pretty much useless as it rarely lands and can be cured even though it's essentially a dirt kick. There are other arguments that could be made, but I'd just like some feedback.
After playing Inmek I gotta admit assassinate is a pretty gay skill. But its the only way for ninjas to defeat certain classess they'd have no chance to otherwise. I hope they receive an overhaul because their strategies are rather boring and seem underpowered with some combinations.
Dear god do NOT let a ninja hide in forests. It would remove the ONLY way to avoid them.
A one-hit kill class that can hide anywhere....yeah.
Neutral ninjas would run amok.
You guys are missing the important point. Let them hide in the forests without the ability to sneak and gain doublesheath only if they lose assassinate. I'd surely love that tradeoff.
It didn't say lose assassinate anywhere in the post that I can see. But maybe I'm just old and losing my mind.

They still would be able to sneak, it just wouldn't keep them camoed. So they move into the room you're in while sneaking, camo, strangle, assassinate. This game has seen a ninja who could hide in forests, and Calandra proved that it's way too strong.
EDIT: If you're recommending, on the other hand, that they only get this by losing assassinate... that may be interesting, though... I kind of feel like assassinate is the defining thing of ninjas, and it'd be wrong to take it away from them.
Just pick the right cabal and you'll be astonished at what you can do.
Yeah you're right, he didn't say anything about losing assassinate, I just assumed it. But that's the only reason I see this being a viable subject as hiding in forest would be way too strong with assassinate. It would probably still be too strong if they could sneak while camo'd which is why I think its a good idea they can't sneak in forests while camo'd.
Eshaine; I see ninjas being strong in Knight and Watcher but not Nexus or Syndicate unless they are assassin ninjas, which can own uncaballed i.e. Inmek. Ofcourse I'm open to discussion of difference of opinions
I would say that Syndicate is great for an assassin ninja.
My idea was to add this as a choosable 'ninjitsu' skill and grant doublesheath as a regular skill. What lead me to post this thought train was seeing and experiencing on a long-past ninja - how thieves own ninjas. However, from both an RP and PK stance, ninjas SHOULD be stealthier than a thief, let alone any other class.
Maybe the skill would be a more advanced version of hide, like 'cloak of shadows' or something rather shweet sounding like that in which nobody, not even other ninjas, could see a person cloaked but it only works where they can already hide. And again, they can't sneak around while 'cloaked'. The idea of the whole train was to further develop their stealthiness vs. making them more of a warrior type with the exception of making doublesheath a regular skill.
I very much disagree with the idea that thieves own ninjas. A ninja's in-combat skills are far superior to a thief's. The only way the thief should take the ninja is if the thief gets the opening attack, which a smart ninja should not let happen. Stay back, study the punk, let him come to you and be ready for when he does. It works beautifully.
Right, dont get blackjacked as a ninja and the thief cant do much to you. You can pugil a staff, the best a theif can do back is dual wield two maces. He cant hide from you and with your dust/poison/caltrap you can really piss him off and make it hard for him to get away.
Again, agreed. No way no how does a thief own a ninja in melee. Period.
When I had my ninja (and bear in mind it had something like a 6-60 PK record), I think 50%-66.6% (3-4 kills
) of them were against thieves.
Dey
i never had problems with ninjas on my thief.
then again, i was an undead NEXUS Pandemonium with a 40/70 hit/dam.
Yeah, see, that changes things. Overall, though, ninjas pound thieves.

And Despiser's Knight ninjas still woulda romped you. No offense, of course, but given equal ability and comparable setup, ninjas rub thieves' faces in the doo doo.
It's all about who gets the drop on who.
