Vech24
So, I'm trying to wrap my head around a possible slith character and was wondering what the general consensus was reagrding the Slith. It seems pretty ambigous thus far so it's difficult for me to come up with a fresh concept so I can avoid going around and doing generic things like drawing out my "s"'s. I know the FL Racial Project is still in the works but any help in shedding some light on the Slith would be welcome. Thanks!
Twinblades713
If Lizardman gives you a better idea of how to picture a slith, that's what I go for. Basically humanoid lizard dude with a tail, scaly skin, .... lizard stuff. Other than that, I would imagine it varies nicely just as humans do. (Some are 4 ft tall, some are 7 ft tall.) The helpfile is vague and I really haven't found much information regarding Slith society/culture. So, while the aesthetics are helpfile, I'm ideally looking for something relating to their backstory (i.e. origin, society, religion, culture). Any help would be awesome. Mudder
They are a mercantile folk. Typically not serving any cause other than their own. They were originally of the desert but quickly migrated north as their home was destroyed by a sudden growth of forest. Bastards! Origin. They don't have one as far as I know. They just always were. Like humans. Religions. I say they vary like any races that have all aligns open to them. Culture. They have a home and a Kingdom, so they're not nomadic tribesmen. I've personally always hated Sliths that draw out their s's. I dislike it. They're not snakes dammit! And even if there was a snakerace, I wouldn't do that. Vech24
Thanks Mudder, that does help. I think part of the problem is that Falen Dara seems written oddly from a story perspective and that the Slith were just thrown in there. The description at the city gate actually goes on to describe the Sultan as the ruler of all of Eastern Aabahran. Also, a lot of named Slith mobs are lacking eq and descriptions all together. I'm curious...is Falen Dara a stock zone?
Mudder
I believe it is stock. It wasn't originally full of sliths. It used to be a goodie city that was quickly, and without much attention for detail, transformed into a slith city. The RP being they took it over. *shrug*

That would explain why the slith seem so out of place. I noticed that Falen Dara is on the list of zones to be built, perhaps someone is working on this? Mudder
Oh, I hope so. It's on my list of top 5 worst areas. Hehe. #1 being Elemental Canyon. I would love to be allowed to replace that area with one of my own.
Vech24
If there really is a push by the Imm's to replace stock areas I'd imagine they'd look into a bulding request via the interested builders thread. Also, it'd be nice to get a head's up on zone's in-progress via a forum post or news announcement. Although I'm new to Aabahran, I had a little basic building experience with another DikuMud that went belly up. I might toss my hat in the ring for Falen Dara as well. The Slith are too bad a** not to have a fitting zone.
Teralis
Oh' date=' I hope so. It's on my list of top 5 worst areas. Hehe. #1 being Elemental Canyon. I would [i']love to be allowed to replace that area with one of my own. I would actually hate to see that unless this new area would be simular for training purposes. The amount of skills you can train in the elemental canyon is unthinkable, and if it wasnt similar I probably would never set foot inside.
Mudder
That is a terrible outlook towards the MUD. Immediately thinking about a chance and your already saying you'd never set foot inside with no idea what the new area would be. What if it was like a new Gear? Anyway, there is nothing special about training in elemental. I never train there. Any area that has Magneto in it is just not fit for FL.
Teralis
Dont need another gear.

At this point though, with the push to attract new players and provide some new life blood to the Mud, I would think that new zones replacing stock is a good thing. Especially for the Vet's. I dont know I guess I just like training there for the learning and the gold one can obtain at low ranks.
Guest emp_newb
I agree Teralis. Stock zones are a double edged sword. On one hand they are stock, and that sucks for all the vets to have places that have been on every mud. But for the newbies, it is great to see familiar zones. Places that have been traveled through a few times over.

Wouldn't make sense to me to screw with the lvl range since you wouldn't really be replacing a stock zone as much as you'd just be deleting it and then adding a new entirely unrelated expansion zone. I'm interpreting "replace stock" as in re-working the current stock zone with some liberty. Not just brand spanking new for the sake of. I agree Teralis. Stock zones are a double edged sword. Today 10:30 AM Yeah I can see what you're talking about here but in the long run, I'd tend to gravitate towards unique new zones being better received by new players, especially if the zones are written and done well. Just look at any popular MMO and their constant updates. People like expansion.
Mudder
Anytime I see a shoddy stock area (They are all crap, horribly written and never fit the mud environment) I am immediately turned off towards the mud. In all honesty, what purpose does the canyon serve beyond random equipment? You say you train there? What do you train? I find there are far many better places to train everything. You most certainly are not ranking there. The canyon is a waste of space and mobs and is incredibly messy. Did I mention there is a magneto in there? EDIT: Anyone who holds on to stock areas like a baby clings to a pacifier is no different than the baby. Get over it, the new area is always better. I'm still shocked people complained about Mahn-Tor being reworked. It is 1000% times better the way it is now. Unique areas always trump old crappy ones.
