MadCowDisease
While I would LOVE to see them buffed.. I don't think that they really need it. tactics are a LOT harder.. but thats simply part of the class. I have one, and it works WONDERS.. like.. It does things it logically shouldn't be able to. I remember a while back killing a ranger that was sanc'd and got the surprise attack, while I was toying with equipment. How I handled that, was I gauged how much damage I did in two rounds. Then I dirt kicked and fled, stayed local and rested for a few rounds before she found me. she dirted me, which gave me a ton of help, because it gave me an idea of what I would throw at her while raged, as well as an idea of the damage I would take. Another favor is that it let me kill her pet. I was about 3/4 of my health left, so I fled towards Rheydin (we were in Val Miran). I fled fairly slow, so that she would get hits on me from time to time. This served two purposes. The first was to keep the fight close towards the end. The second was to make her think that she was winning. I think I really nailed both. At the mountainside you have to climb to reach rheydin, I stopped and let the fight begin. Opened with bodyslam (WHAT? NOT DIRT?! relax.. dirting wouldnt have been as useful as the lag. I wanted to lag, dirt, lag. That saved me so much health. I did not rage. I only let beserk kick in. This made sure that she didn't try to flee from my damage. also it freed up my lag, so that I could bodyslam to lag her, preventing her from running away from two LACERATES and a MUTILATE. (keep in mind, this isn't a higher level fight, in fact, rather low level.) It was over two rounds later, after a dirt to keep her blind. She did a ton of damage to me. ended the fight at -2, when berserk ended.. but because of fast healing.. I was up in seconds. So in all honesty, I think the problem with zerkers are that they're more complex. with my war, I simply had to worry about equipment, and my tactics pretty much had to stick to weapon choice and lags. With a zerker, there were so many things I had to do. I know a lot of people are going to say that is their flaw.. but lets be honest. I, for one, have yet to kill a sanc'd ranger unsanc'd with my war..

(From what ive heard i still got a few lvls till 50.) Also remember that killing alot before 50 will make your life really hard on the way up. MadCowDisease
I don't expect it to be cookie-cutter perfect, straight to the point pinnacle fighting style. I agree they are SO much harder to play. But I honestly think that they have a lot more potential than they get credit for. As I look into their advancement compared to advancement from other classes, I do note that they have it rough vs. melee. Counter/Dual Counter is just DEADLY. But at the same time.. dual wielding the right axes (as a mino zerk, from my experience the best zerkers) you have a ton of damage output. My trick for that would be to axe/shield it for most of the fight. weapon/shield cleave if you can, keep a moderate amount of lag going. dirt, even if they have blindfighting. To my knowledge, they still suffer the AC penalty even if they have it. Anyway.. axe/shield it, keep a spare axe or two in case of disarms. don't rage. at all. You want to keep your option of fleeing for as long as you can. let it berserk if you decide to stick around that long. as SOON as you berserk.. drop the shield, dual wield the axe. you already lose dodge. the gain from using a shield is so much less than the gain of dual wielding. especially for a mino using a second 2hander. You'll see a flurry of DEMOLISHES and DISINTEGRATES. ESPECIALLY if you can cleave their shield. ESPECIALLY if your path is fury. burnproof weaps/shields? they're a lot weaker than theit counterparts socket for burnproof? socket weapons are weaker than unsocketed too. so they will either have good dmg output until you cleave, or have bad dmg output the entire time. and as a zerk, they will need to have a ton of tricks if they lack output. MadCowDisease
The way I see it, every class has potential. Some are harder to figure out than others. Also. casters. kinda weaker at the start, right? But really good at the end. So by that logic.. Zerkers. Buff at start. Not as good at the end. makes sense to me. Though i believe its more of a change in style. You have to play them differently than you might be used to. but i'll judge that theory when i get pinn. mya
Shame on you Pali and Mudder. The kid just found a way to make his Zerk, a class everyone says is underpowered work for him, and you guys are like "Shut up Newb". I find this quite interesting, you know Ogre rangers are quite a power combo. Can't wait to see some PK logs by him. Remenber, don't give up when someone full loots you. Keep on trucking. Pali
Shame on me? He's arguing that a class is balanced that he has not pinned with. He doesn't have the experience yet to make his case convincing. I'm just saying that he should gain that experience before trying to argue that the class is fine, when a lot of people with that experience would disagree (as I lack that experience as well, I have no position on the subject). Sandbox
-.- one thing i can say, solo lvling as gimped zerk sucks balls. been stuck at 43 for the last 60 hours or so.
Mudder
RE: Mya. What Pali said! Except I have that experience. I also have the experience that a Zerk at lvl 20 trumps all. I've taken an ogre berserker and killed a group of three (that jumped me - when I was new.) The game isn't balanced at level 20, It's balanced at lvl 50. EyeSeeU
Cheers to the English man. A reason why I do not even pk before 50(range).
