Twinblades713
I LOVE low level pk. That being said, I've never hunted anyone below thirty completely unprovoked, at least in recent times that I remember. And I certainly didn't get to interact with the minotaurs in question. Love low level pk.
Bl3h
Low level pk is so fun, especially if you are a mage. Cause normally the melee character wouldn't bother with sanc, and can't get detect invis. So you just chuck a couple of spells at him, then invis.. Follow him around a while, and do it again. It's awesome.
Iusedtobesomebody
In 1.0, I had a drow bmg tool an ogre warrior at/around 13. He shook his head, said, "Damn" and deleted. I went on to become the Emperor of Xymerria. One example out of many. I love lowbies who try to jack my mages/communers at low levels.
Pali
I love lowbies who try to jack my mages/communers at low levels. Personally, I prefer taking a faerie and killing a group of 3 melees who were ready for me at 30.
Malchaeius
Low level Playerkilling is not against the rules unless the player in question is camping there to constantly attack others. Remember, there is a reason why you can playerkill at level ten. Low level playerkilling can allow a newer player to test out the abilities of their characters and their playerkilling strategies at a very low level. They can use this time to get a bit comfortable with the rush and strategy of playerkilling with relatively little at stake compared to the higher levels. So if someone attacks you at the lower levels, your first reaction should not be to get angry. It should be to decide whether you are going to fight or flee - remembering that neither decision better or worse than the other. The only cause for concern is if that character witnessed being overly aggressive to several other characters. Those who are guilty of such get dealt with. Ultimately, my point is not to jump to conclusions about a character based on one single attack - too often that is the knee jerk reaction. "He/She attacked me, he/she must be trash!" If you feel it is fishy, report it in game and through the prayer forum. Those who are overly aggressive at that level get punished. That being said, experienced players should not be playerkilling in the lower levels because they already know how to play the game.
Implementor Anume Posted April 4, 2009 Implementor Report Share Posted April 4, 2009 Heh, I remember TRYING to pk anything with my ninja at around level 15... emphasis is on trying... because I was new to pk muds then. Unfortunately for me one of my "victims" turned out to be some vet and kicked my ... repeatedly when I was still trying to get to 50 (which I didn't manage on that char) and she was an Elder Savant already... ouch? Took pitty on me and left me alone after she killed me the third time I think.. well, no complaints from my side, this was 1.0 and a lot less whining was going on. MadCowDisease
Of my sub30 PKs i started...how many? 1st PK: a ninja. i provoked. was level 15(i think?) 2nd PK: same ninja. they provoked. was same level as before 3rd PK: ranger. they provoked. again, same level. 4th PK: An invoker. They provoked (fought me while i was killing a mob) 5th PK: warrior (maybe bladmaster, i don't remember). double kill. both had our hands in provoking. level 16 (i think?) 6th PK: paladin. I provoked. level 17 ( i think?) since then.. havent killed anyone. have been killed 3 times since. yeah. of those i provoked.. 2.5 that reeeeeally screams bloodthirsty.. i may have killed a lot of people, but i didnt go starting them all. so lay off already. im not killing everything in my PK range. im not openly hunting people. If I target you, there is a motive. mostly, xhan is testing himself. he has plans. EDIT: I will agree that I was more aggressive than I should have been. I've toned that down a bit on my other characters.

[/quote'] Not uhh! I whined plenty back in 1.0. Back when lvl 50s were multikilling my lvl 45, over, and over, and over, while full looting. I never did hit 50 in 1.0 It was much harder back in 1.0, where IMMs encouraged caballed avatars to multikill pre-pinns.

English lad
MCD - Don't worry about it - you are doing EXACTLY what 90% of new players do - go check out Malch's post on the previous page. Low/Mid level PK is completely appropriate for a new player, because you are new, and need to find your feet. The thing is, as a Playerbase, we have got used to not having very many new players, and although we are trying, we're not as welcoming as a lot of us might like to think. If someone like Mindflayer or Mudder etc was Pking as much as you do at low levels, we'd call that out for being trashy, Why? Because we know they can get to 50 in under a week, that they know the game inside out, and that the only reason they could have for PKing at low levels would be to take advantage of rank situations. That's why we have a bit of a negative outlook on low level PK. When i was new I remember making a post about the best way to learn PK, and Virigoth answeres (Viri was one of the original IMPs here). He basically said go make a human dark-knight, take adventurer perk, come up with a backstory and RP, and then just go look for PK, from 15 upwards. His advice was to go attack EVERYTHING, but to keep it to 3 attacks once every 5 levels or so. The point being that those attacks weren't supposed to be what the character was about, they were just supposed to induct me slowly into PK, and also to keep me leveling so i got to grips with new skills and spells as I got them.
