Best solo character for...

I've been wanting to explorer some of the higher ranking areas in more detail, but do so solo. Before when I've went to some of the areas where all the top notch gear is, I've ending up with a group that knows all about those areas and they fly through them before I can really absorb what's happening. Are there any classes/races best suited for somewhat soloing through? The class would need some sort of way to id gear, so warriors for example won't do well since I can't really identify any item that might happen to be nodrop nouncurse, or anti neutral.

I was thinking a human battlemage might be the best. Any suggestions?

Healer - best for solo exploring.

I hate healers though so i'm going to say stone ranger archer

Ditto. Granted I suck with melee, there was virtually nowhere I couldn't go, easily. Good defenses, sleep arrows, makes things unbelievably simple. Neutral and good con will give you alot of breathing room for hp too.

Just get that awesome stave that grants sanc some protection potions and an ogre ranger with 1500 hp and hella regen can go almost anywhere in gear. Trust me, way better than a stone giant. In my opinion, maybe it's just my undying hate for neutrality, but I would say go ogre. Perferebly evil.

Ah, just remembered a way to id with melee types. Its been awhile, little rusty.

Why human warrior? I can see the ogre ranger for the hp boost and extra melee power to get it done quick. And archer seems good for sort of pulling monsters.

Battlemage may have the advantage with blinding though

Also, to the person who suggests getting the sanctuary staff... my currnet pinn has around 150 hours, has died only twice. Both deaths were against the mob with the staff

My point is, I wouldn't suggest to someone who wants to explore relying on that staff too much.

Oh yeah. Guess I should have read more carefully.

And that mob can be a real pain I agree.

So it looks like maybe battlemage, ranger, or paladin...

Paladin sounds like a good option, though the damage output might not be as good as the battlemage or ranger... Also can you use scrolls to id items on the ground? Can't remember and I'm at work or I'd test it for myself.

Thought about a shaman too but I think it would just take too long to get the job done.

Paladin is probably the best for solo trips if you want to have decent output, with viable methods of recovery. For taking down mobs? Healer. Healers have insane ability to just soak up damage.

Paladin damage output isn't to be underestimated, especially if you're killing evil mobs (which a lot of the big ones are). Else, flamestrike is a low cost spell that does good, reliable damage, and dual wield plus third attack with cure crit to cover the extra damage taken gives good melee output as well.

And yes, you can use scrolls to ID things on the ground.

There are scroll which give you the ability to identify items when you "examine" them. There is also an item which can be made that gives you the same ability when you use it :P

I think the real points which you need to tick out when you are looking for such class are:

a) Survivability:

- Curative spells (for poison, plague, blindness)

- Healing spells

- Sanctuary access

- Defensive skills (parry/dual parry/shield block/two handed)

B) Damage output

I still think that either Healer or Paladin would be the best choice that will take not an extreme amout of time to kill things.

Good points. (And thanks about the id stuff)

Plus flamestrike hits multiple targets...

I'm liking the Paladin idea I think. Really not the healer type myself. Human probably I would imagine... more str and hp. The elf would have more mana though... Never really saw the advantage of the half-elf over those two other than quick training- which paladins don't need much of anyways (another plus)

that 3 str and 4 con plus the much lower exp pen is quite nice Pali' date=' you should try it, though you might not master every skill by 50 just power ranking like an elf plai though.[/quote']

Eh. I like the high mana and insane defense more than I like high hp and an extra couple points of hit/dam (and there are still plenty of great weapons for an elf pally).

Forget all that.

Half Healer Chance. Focus on AC gear, and some Managain eq.

If you wish to be able to use the character for some Pk then:

Dwarf Cleric chance.

Duergar Cleric Discord.

My Healer could beat the 2 first gauntlets from gear alone. Unrared. :P
