One of those days...

I realize I'm not on everyone's happy list around these here parts lately (I deserve it), so how's about a laugh at my expense?

One of those days starts at 7am Yesterday when I got up (I'm on a 48 hour cycle), and spent the night slamming my head against the desk trying to track down some messed up chunk of code. Ended up missing a ; and forgetting a / in the right place. So, after an evening of Revenge of the Nerds, a crappy, yet fun, movie about crazy people at their perceived end of the world, and a movie called Breezy I finished my work for the day. End up trying to clear space for some new items coming, succeeding in doing so- but dropping a 20lbs dumbless on my knee (I was sitting and moving a stack of crap, for some reason my dumb *** though, "hey, this is a good place for this....")

Go to feed the cat, step in a gift she left at the bottom of the stairs. After changing my socks, I start playing guitar to blow a string- with no new complete sets, just the left overs. (One of my pet peeves is non-matchings sets of strings on a guitar.) But then I get a nice message from WC when I get back to the computer this morning: "Shipped for delivery today!" A few hours later I'm in possession of my two, new 22inch wide screen lcds. After moving the beast of the CRT out of the secondary monitor slot in the corner, I threw my back out a bit. But shortly there after, I had arranged my dream setup into position. Two 22inchers and a 19inch, all wide screen ready to go (only shy the boom for the 19"). DVI's all lined up to realize I just have to shift the computer to the other section of the desk.

Power down, unplug cables, move it. Plug in and.... no power. Odd. Check cords, check monitors- all working. Swap out a few more spare power cables for the computer... nope. WC on the phone from Korea calling me names, tells me, "it's either the power supply or the mother board." So I cannibalize the old Dell in the corner, rip out it's supply, looks like it'll work... no, not enough pins for the mother board. But, enough to fake it. Plug it in to find I toasted the power supply.

Start calling around to local Best Buys, Wal*Marts, and Staples. First store I call- get a guy my ex was doing everything short of sex with while she was with me. He's still grumpy over the whole me having the woman he wanted thing- either way he tries to lie to me and sell me a $200 dollar power supply. Tells me no other stores in the area carry it.

Continue calling, end up tracking down the only power supply in the area that has SLI Ready on the box while not insanely expensive...at the Best Buy 20 minutes north of me. And only for a $100. They've got it on hold..... but I'm broke. So now I sit on my Futon with my Netbook looking at my desktop... then glancing at my 10" screen and dying a little more inside.
