Malicious
I see the people I'm ranking with kind of like I see my coworkers in real life. Until we've spent a while together interacting' date=' we aren't friends. We're just people doing what we do together because it works better that way. We'll exchange small talk here and there, maybe a few jokes, but until we've worked together a while we're not going to be sharing much in the way of personal history or motivations or goals. That's how I see my groupmates. I'm not going to meet someone and start telling them my life story until we've known each other for a while.[/quote'] Your point was well put, yet I still think there is a great lack in even a small exchange of pleasantries. And more often then not, after knowing someone 'for a while', many are more comfortable in RP silence then they were when first grouping with that person. Just my view. Pali
Also keep in mind that during a lot of moving around and combat, which is what ranking is, is not an easy time to be keeping up a conversation. People are using skills/spells which require their own typing and attention being paid to, there's a lot of text flying making it hard to read individual words (a problem when you're trying to pay attention to more than just "Bob maims a dryad!" repeated ten times)... perhaps during resting patches talking gets easier, but those tend to be fairly short periods of time that a lot of people would rather use running to the bathroom or grabbing a drink quick before having to pay attention again. I'm not saying that I disagree with your idea that people should chat-RP more... I'm ALWAYS a fan of people RPing more in any way... but there are times that are good for it and there are times that are not, and hunting with a group is oddly one of those times that is not. I have to say it can make a difference. Some of the funniest times ive had was when we were deep in deso with askarran (sp?) and he was talking about the flying rats or something to that effect. Hell going anywhere with askarran was usually a crack up trip.
