Ali_gmud
My god, I can't believe I didn't think of this sooner, It's been right there infront of me the whole time. When I chase people down, I am using w + enter. e + enter n + enter. Then, when I am in the same room as the person, I quickly paste what I've got copied usually it's murder < > then have to enter, alot of the time my prey slips out of the room before then. Soooooooo many of you already do this certain "trick" if you will, which is prop makes you all better pk'ers than me, but I'm seriously considering putting my wow account on hold just to test out my new tactic.... I won't say what it is, because I want to test it first, hopefully own, and then refer/introduce it to other players whom don't use it, or do use it, but use it with slight differences.... see you... on the battlefield, Peace out. mya
Good you discovered Gunpowerd. Chase with murder, or you will spam yourself to death. Or a skill you cannot use in combat, or with no opponent present. Like mounted charge.
Ali_gmud
Numpad sucks' date=' if that is what you've discovered.[/quote'] We shall see Star Fox. I figured there are 12 buttons which you could bind to useable skills in combat, including 2 you could open with. What ever Grim, I'll test it out, wow account is hold, I'm actually almost excited to get home from work and test out my theory
MadCowDisease
im actually trying to make a trigger (although technically it closer resembles a script) that will take the fleeing target and auto-execute the murder command when i walk into the room. and when they die, the trigger turns itself off. if you want, i'll let ya know if/when i complete it. Ali_gmud
Pretty sure Ellikian/Elloran had a trigger so when you fleed, he'd be right in the room with you already

KRins
I'm gonna be perfectly honest with all of you. Triggers are pretty lame to me. Get a pair and type it out. Half the skills in the game are triggered with 1 or 2 letters + a couple letters to target your opponent. I would honestly prefer if triggers/scripts/timers were outlawed. If you can write a script you get an advantage? Sounds like BS to me...
Deykari
Triggers WILL get you killed, sooner or later. I don't care if it's a complex chase-murder script or something as simple as 'get 1.; wield 1'. when disarmed, or 'get gold' when you walk into a room with gold in. oldskooler
I think this might work, I know if I worked longer at it something easier would work. This is for a program liked mudmaster which I use, dos program so it doesn't use himem I believe, not sure if that's still a factor but I assume so. Started using this program about 12 years ago on ar. Damn i'm old. /action {%1 %2 in} {/if {$1 = "bozo" && $2 = "walks" !! "flies" !! "rides" !! "limps" !! "crawls" in} {murder $1;/disableaction 01}} Almost forgot that last bracket on the end of the action.

WC Yep, triggers = death. Especially when someone smart, aka a strong thief, baits you into chasing him right into his traps. Doesn't take much for a good thief to kill you if you are busy chasing and relying on triggers. Only 1 trigger is worth a damn, roll trigger! Just make sure to disable it if you aren't rolling a character=P
One Way Up
The get all.gold trigger got a ninja of mine killed way back when. I was following Gomanhor, studying him. I happened to walk into the same room he was in in town, and there was gold in the room. My trigger kicked in, I picked up the gold, bringing me out of the shadows, and ended up in a slamlock. I used triggers once to capture Carisous. (I think that was his name. The Dark Cleaver). I had a 42 monk justice. I could -never- catch him in a foot race, so I set up a trigger for Carisous flies/walks/limps/crawls n/e/s/w/d/u and then apprehend. He walked into the room, I hit apprehend, and sat back, not having to enter another command in. After I captured him, though, I felt like dirt. Like trashy dirt. Like a Shisno. It totally took all of the fun/suspense out of stuff for me. Of course, this is taking triggers to the extreme, but nontheless, from that day on, I've never used triggers for combat, save the disarmed trigger.(Which has gotten me into trouble before) I use my aliases alot, and I -did- use my macro keys (F1-F12), until I started playing on a laptop, and the F keys aren't in a neat little row any more. I have been curious about changing clients, though. I use ROA now, and I see these logs where I see stuff like TICK IN 5 SECONDS, and I've wanted to know more about those clients. If someone is using one of these (I'm assuming it's G or Z MUD) could you shoot me a PM?
Chief
Macros on Gmud are all you need, Normally have f1 to f3 with the commands I need to enter combat e.g F1 Strangle , F2 murder . and some times in the heat of battle and you fail at typing prehaps have a defensive command as F4 e.g Vanish, portal, Word, Hide, camo. And I think everyone has a demon talisman macro, You know what im talking about.
KRins
Alright...I know I just said that I hate triggers, but if someone has a tick timer like OWU mentioned for MushClient I would love a PM with the script. I am always trying to guess when the tick is and I'm invariably sleeping for like 15 seconds or I'm missing the tick by like 2 seconds.
Pali
Never, ever used triggers. Never, ever used numpad macros. I've always found regular typing (with a few aliases using the in-game system) to be perfectly sufficient.

Iusedtobesomebody
All zMUD triggers can be shut of with a nice little toggle box in a second. Some triggers are good, some are bad and most will get you killed. Use sparingly, and in the right time and circumstance. Numpad movement was great, but if you move to a laptop you actually hone your typing speed. Much better.
Guest emp_newb
Definately true IUTBS, I played with numpad for a long time, shortly after I started in FL. After moving to a laptopn (Lmathr was done on a laptop, so where krondrin and vasraema) I got much faster at chasing/running. I still find the numpad to be slightly easier to use. oldskooler
I still use numpad and f-keys it does make it faster, I can still type fast but milisecondyss do make differences, and aliases are great, who wants to type out co 'detect invis' or co 'detect magic' to seperate the two. and typing out charge someones name instead of dirt their name because you want to finish or whatever can give that person an extra second. It is agreed though that actions will get you killed, although wimpy is in fact an action making you flee below a certain hp. Some might use it. *shrug*. Oh and about laptops, I have an extra keyboard to plug in at my dads house. I hate laptops, exactly for their keyboards and mice and also I don't think they get enough air circulation with how thin they make them these days. Maybe I'm too old and too set in my ways.
