sarcon
Quick question.... When scribing a note, how the heck do you scribe them in paragraph form? I don't think I have ever mastered this. Is it the Mud client? Or something that can be formatted in game?
Aulian
I think someone forgot to master Meditation of Blades.
Nikodemus
Best way to format your notes is to, ironically, never use the format command. Just do it manually.

Deykari
Unlike the description editor, the note editor doesn't recognise blank lines (when you just type 'note +'). I format them manually, following a guide I believe used to be on the old FL website. Open notepad (or your text editor equivalent) and type along the top line: 012345678901234567890123456789012345678901234567890123456789 That's 60 characters in length, 0 to 9 six times. Then write your note out, ensuring each line is as near to 60 chars in length as possible (using the top row of numbers as a guide). Add in your paragraph breaks. Then copy and paste the whole lot in, safe in the knowledge that how you see it in notepad is how it will be seen in-game. To make it even quicker, I have a template notepad document with the row of numbers along the top, and 'note to' and 'note subject' already written in. -Totenkopf-
I just open up notepad, so its sized at approx 60 characters or whatever. Then turn word wrap on, write my note. At the end, I go to the end of each line that I didn't hit return on (ie, in the middle of the paragraphs, not at the end) and put a return in. You'll notice the text doesn't move. After I've done this to all the applicable lines I turn word wrap off and make sure I didn't miss any. Then I use the text importing thing in ZMUD, adding the prefix note + I never write notes whilst I am on. It'd result me in being dead whilst I attempted to sort out my thoughts
HouselessRogue
Me neither. My constant in game paranoia would prevent my notes from being worth a crap. I have to compile them outside of game then log in and paste.

Mudder
Dey, I think you have it mixed up. Last I checked the description editor removes blank lines, while notes don't. Back in the day everything used to recognize blank lines. Not sure what they changed to stop it.

Back in the day everything used to recognize blank lines. Not sure what they changed to stop it. The last time I used the "format" command it didn't remove my blank line. I was a bit surprised since I expected it to be removed. Can't remember if it was a note editor or a desc one.
Malicious
How does one scribe a tangible note? I.E. one you can keep in a bag, inventory, etc... I've seen it done, I just don't know how.
Deykari
'desc format' doesn't remove blank lines that you've entered by way of the description editor (using enter to add an extra line) HOWEVER it may do if you added the extra line by just putting 'desc +', I wouldn't know myself as my client allows multiple lines of input and I can copy and paste an entire description into the desc editor. If you use 'note format' it will definitely remove any blank lines added by 'note +', which is why I think maybe you've seen 'desc format' remove blank lines if they've been added by 'desc +'. Pali
How does one scribe a tangible note? I.E. one you can keep in a bag, inventory, etc... I've seen it done, I just don't know how. The draft command. Not 100% sure how it works myself... I know that you need to write up a note, send it, then you can draft it, but I'm not entirely sure how that note can be read once it is drafted, nor am I sure whether that note needs to be to yourself or someone else. Tantangel
You have to be the one who wrote the note, then you do this: Draft note # and you print it out. To read it I believe all you have to do is "read " and it should display across your screen. I think that's how. Emp_newb told me on AIM a few weeks ago and I forget if that was the right way or not. Zhokril
There does happen to be a helpfile on draft, last I checked.
Pali
There is, though I did have some mild confusion testing it out myself, so I can understand others having it as well. It'd be nice if it were a bit more streamlined than writing notes to yourself, sending them, and then being able to draft them.
Mudder
To read a note that has been drafted, examine or read note will not work. You have to use a keyword that is mentioned in the note's short description. Example: A note, "The fundamentals of time when read backwards or something" written by Billy. If you typed read/examine fundamentals you would then read the note.
Guest emp_newb
to draft something, make a note completely how you want it. then send it to yourself, then you can DRAFT that note. Like so: Note list 0-dumb crap 1-dumber crap 2-mudder whining about zerks 3-Emp burning mudder about zerks Draft 3;draft 3;draft 3;draft 3; i Inventory: ( 4) Emp burning mudder about zerks ( 2) One of Mr. Halon's cigars ( 2) A potion of kickass So on and so forth.
